"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

Chapter 28 - M Upside Down

Chapter 29 - T Broken Pottery
Chapter 30 - W God's Right to Rule
Chapter 31 - Th God's Rule is Right
Chapter 32 - F God's Daily Rule

QUESTIONS for Chapter 28 Upside Down

1. Why is obedience so necessary to freedom in Christ?

2. How have you experienced gaining freedom in one area only to have bondage appear in another area of your life?

3. How are we today like the rebellious Israelites in Isaiah 30?

4. Which of the characteristics of a rebellious child of God have you experienced? ***

Isaiah 29:16

James 1:22-25

In the Book of Isaiah, God perfectly underscores the same 3 principles:

1. He has the right to rule.
2. He sets a high price for rebellion.
3. He pours out safety and blessing for obedience.

Isaiah 30:10-11
Isaiah 30:12-15

***A REBELLIOUS Child of God (these are covered in Chapter 28) from Isaiah 30:8-21 :
1) ...doesn't act like a child of God (v. 9)
2) ...isn't willing to listen to the Lord's instruction (v. 9) (Ps. 81:13-14)
3) ...prefers present illusions over truth (v.10-11)
4) ...relies on oppression (v.12)

In Chapter 29, we'll continue to examine the last 2 characteristics that a REBELLIOUS child
5) ...learns to depend on deceit (v.12)
6) ...runs from the real answers God provides (v.15-17)

... * an extra from my dear BFF pastor friend back home at my home church, in her BFF sermon 1/23/11 ... Pastor Irene R. "... Abraham sought direction from God at every point in his life.  Our passion needs to be for Jesus....God says that when you are my friend, you will obey what I command. (John 15) "So...

"Our OBEDIENCE demonstrates the reality of our righteousness."

Check out my blog post on DISCOURAGEMENT, which also posted today.

I've been listening to another great series at Living on the Edge...with Chip Ingram

Current Series

and today's Part 3 is so GOOD (maybe because it was meant for me or YOU, too)

How to Slay the Dragon of  Discouragement
James 1:9-12

Dis-cour-age-ment  (-ment)  n.  (1) to deprive of courage, hope, or confidence; dishearten
(2) to advise or persuade (a person) to refrain  (3) to prevent or try to prevent by disapproving or raising objections or obstacles

Chip Ingram shares MESSAGE NOTES on each one, you can click here for todays pdf

Here are others in the series so far:

*Where are you most prone to struggle with discouragement?

[Over with Good Morning Girls, we have been reading through the Book of James. This is Week 7...  James 3: 13-18 (also under my VERSES page) So this series is a good review of James.]
I just realized that I should have been sharing Chip Ingram's message because if it helps me,it may help you. We all need to "CONSIDER IT ALL JOY" and be encouraged in the face of our discouragements that we face in this world... (from 1st message above):

What can I control when my world falls apart? (James 1:2)
What must I do to make it through today? (James 1:3)
What hope do I have for tomorrow? (James 1:4)

James 1:5 (52 kb)

Please consider sharing your answer to the question (in blue bold*) in the comments and know I will pray for you. If U listen to these messages, I pray it will help U as they have been helping me

Prayer from devotional of Billy Graham "Unto the Hills" for March 2nd, "The Cloud of Discouragement" Romans 15:5

"Our Father and our God, You are my strength and my courage. Help me, Lord, to be strong in the faith and close to You. I praise Your mighty name and I glory in the cross of Jesus Christ, through whom I have salvation and hope." ~ Billy Graham

Bible Quotes (verses) on God's Faithfulness

But You, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15

Prayer "WALKING IN FAITHFULNESS" (not part of Super Sunday, but for every day)

"Great is Your faithfulness, O God, my Father. (Lamentations 3:23) Your Word reveals the importance of faithfulness in my walk with You. Let this fruit of the Spirit grow in my life until I learn to be faithful in the little things. I realize, Lord, that until I can be faithful in small things, You cannot entrust me with the weightier matters of the Kingdom. (Luke 19:17) / You have shown me that faithfulness involves steadiness, consistency and stability (2 Thessalonians 3:3) and that these qualities come to me only as I learn to keep my priorities in order and my perspective straight. Lord, help me to see the importance of faithfulness in my life (Proverbs 28:20) - faithfulness to You, to other people, to my responsibilities and to myself - so that others will know they can depend on me, and so that the enemy has nothing in me. (John 14:30) Grant that I might never fail to see my need for faithfulness. / Forgive me for the times when I have failed to be faithful, father. I realize now that faithfulness is the fruit of Your Spirit in my life. (Galatians 5:22). Be faithful through me, Lord. May others see Your faithfulness in my life./ Teach me to be a good steward over all that You have entrusted to my care. (Luke 12:37) Keep me, Lord, from the error of seeing possessions, talents and family members as mine (or me belonging to them or this world), because everything in the universe You created belongs to You. (Psalm 24:1) help me always to realize that my primary responsibility is to respond to Your ability instead of striving through my own personal strength to accomplish Your will. use me to Your greater glory, Lord, and make me a faithful manager over Your property./ Thank You for Your faithful mercies, O Lord. Your loving kindness in my life is renewed each day. From this day forward, I determine to live my life in such a way, empowered by Your Spirit, that others may see my faithfulness. I invite You to do whatever is necessary and to show me what I need to do to cause this fruit to develop fully in my life. Let me see that being faithful is being full of faith" ~ prayer on "Walking in Faithfulness", from Prayers that Prevail (using scriptures to pray) The Believer's Manual of Prayers

HOW TO PRAY by R. A. Torrey (another wonderful resource available on line)
Personalizing the Word into Prayer has been part of my learning since the late 80s, and many of these "prayers" from God's Word have been prayed so frequently from the manual above that they have become part of my memory, in part or at times in full. The more we pray and practice personalizing God's Word into a prayer the more familiar we become with God and His Word, and His Word cannot return void. Sorry I got carried away...when this was meant to be SIMPLE for a SUPER SUNDAY, I just felt I needed to share this prayer and where it comes from...

Always welcome to join us in making Sunday (posts on Sat. pm and then I move it to Sunday) for a SUPER SON Sunday! It's simple, just share a scene, song or scripture (any combination) and keep it simple! Then visit the others that have linked up anytime during the week after being STILL on Sunday and worshiping the Son. The point is to do this and leave Sunday for God

Links so far... because when I opened after church Linky had disappeared(so if it does that for you than leave your link in the comments):

Here's a song I chose to end this week of "DREAMS SURPASSED" from Beth Moore's book on "BREAKING FREE".  My dreams have included horses ever since I was a young child and read "Black Beauty". Of course, related to horses, would be the term "breaking". I purchased a young Arabian colt, just to experience "breaking" and training a horse.

For me, the beauty of horses is as I watch them run FREE (especially the Arabians, which raise their tails as they run)! Now this brings JOY to my heart and part of my dreams and sweet memories of my MN home. There are so many spiritual lessons to be learned through a horse, having been a owner of a few, I delighted and learned much through falls, kicks, and good trail rides. God is so good! He delights in us and His creation!

Bethany Dillon

“Come!” I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.
Revelation 6:2 and 4,6, 8 for more horses...

For the Official Video: of  "DREAMER" (but I wanted this one for the lyrics and love the pictures of so many horses)! A diversion of precious delights... horses!

Do your know the significance of the 4 horses  in Revelations? They represent evil being being released upon the earth as Jesus predicted. These are definitely not delights: White Horse: False Christ and false religion; Red Horse: War and its devastating effects; Black Horse: Famines following War; Pale Horse: Pestilences and disease following after starvation.

Getting ready for a SUPER SON Sunday (posts tonight so we can enJOY SONday in the SON! Of Course, there is always Spiritual Sunday too with a big group of wonderful, inspirational participants. EnJOY!

Chapter 28 - M
Chapter 29 - T
Chapter 30 - W
Chapter 31 - Th
    Chapter 32 - F

Last week was "Dreams Surpassed" so next week will be "Obedience that Lasts" (how timely*)

Here are the Questions for next week Monday through Friday so you can have them in advance.

(28) Upside Down - M
Scripture Isaiah 29:16
1. Why is obedience so necessary to freedom in Christ?
2. How have you experienced gaining freedom in one area only to have bondage appear in another area of your life?
3. How are we today like the rebellious Israelites in Isaiah 30?4. Which of the characteristics of a rebellious child of God have you experienced?

(29) Broken Pottery - T
Scripture Isaiah 30:13-14
1. How can a rebellious child of God come to rely on deceit?
2. Why do rebellious children of God run from real answers?
3. Which do you find more difficult, returning to God or resting in Him?
4. Which of the characteristics of rebellion have been your tendencies?

(30) God's Right to Rule - W
Scripture Isaiah 46:9
1. When do we experience freedom in Christ?
2. What is the difference between working our way to freedom and withholding no part of our lives from God's authority?
3. How does believing in God's right to rule affect your obedience?
4. How does believing that God's rule is right affect your obedience?
5. How does seeing God as the center of your universe make a difference in your life?

(31) God's Rule is Right - Th
Scripture Isaiah 51:6b
1. How do you react to having to obey an unrighteous authority?
2. Why do we want so desperately to be our own boss? Is it even possible?
3. What influences have caused your trust in God to increase?
4. Do you have authority problems? How have you become aware of them?

(32) God's Daily Rule - F
Scripture Isaiah 33:2
1. Why do we struggle so much with the "daily-ness" of obedience to God?
2. Which of the five benefits of a daily walk with God means the most to you?
3. How important to you is a fresh morning word?
4. What is your biggest temptation when you don't feel that God is illuminating your way clearly?

Are you to a place in your life where OBEDIENCE LASTS and you have learned the value?

I sure am, I want obedience that lasts
and find it easier each day just to obey
God's way!

A study of the Bible and of human history reveals that man's obedience to God's will has always brought man happiness, and disobedience has always brought unhappiness.

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.  John 14:15 ESV

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? Luke 6:46 ESV

Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? Romans 6:16

* I may not be around much for awhile because evangelism training begins with INVASION -"Cosechadores Victoriosos" to prepare us for "Carnaval" (like Mardi Gras) which will begin next Thursday until late Tuesday, to reach ONE MORE for Jesus...  train to help us be ready!
So although I need to answer these questions about OBEDIENCE, I need to OBEY more...
Pray for a Victorious Harvest Invasion and Souls to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus!
