"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

2012 and 2013 MY ONE WORD

This page was done for MY ONE WORD 2012 ... so I'm not sure how I'll add 2013 yet, but I do introduce it as a Blog Post on New Year's Day 2013! I am sure both Words go together for a glorious reflection of Him.

Yet you will find 2013's Word throughout my blog posts all year long hopefully, especially on SONdays. Just search for the word PEACE! (as long as I remember to use that label in each one). God spoke both of these Words into my spirit for my yearly focus instead of the yearly resolution thing. Read more about My One Word at the site! For me they are key themes that God desires to work in me and around me.

I have chosen also to do PEACE with Letting Go for the 31 Day Challenge of Nester in October as explained on Day 1, October 1st "Revealing Jesus as Our Peace" so those will be linked here first to make that easier and more accessible + what I chose to "let go" of on that day after each as I am able to add them (but some days later on, it's too much to put here) so they are in each post, just click & follow the link:

I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

The first 10 weeks of 2013, on Sunday evenings, I am re-reading and sharing Elaine Olsen's "Peace for the Journey", a wonderful book for everyone to have in their collection. Praying for His Peace for each of our journeys this year and always ...

the Peace of Christ,

In September, She Reads Truth(SRT) began a new plan from You Version that is not theirs but we are doing it together reading and sharing God's Truth. The You Version plan is from Zondervan: NIV Once-a-day Promises Devotional but the first verse or Promise is from John 16:33 (so I'm adding this one for My One Word verse as well as the one from John 14:27).Perfect verse and image for the fall from Verse a day. Reminds me of home and how autumn is my favorite season, which fills me with His Peace ... with this Promise.

John 16:33

Our Prince of Peace

In October 2013, I committed to the 31 Day Challenge that our dear Nester organizes, promotes and hosts annually. This year my theme "Revealing Jesus" as Our Peace" from my devotional gift (once again from Karen) with the addition of "Letting Go ... " became my focus. You can follow along each day of October.

"WE ARE ... " the Light of the World (coming on Kari Jobe's new CD being released Jan.24th "Where I Find You") this song is from
1 Thessalonians 5:5

"You are all children of the light and children of the day.
We do not belong to the night or to the darkness."

This started out with a very special gift from
Karen, Hallelujah Anyhow
for October of 2011, she sent me in MN
"Passages of Light"

Selected Scriptures with Reflections by
Thomas Kinkade
"Painter of Light"
shared in my 1st post

But first in December, I started out with gazing
and it became
John 8:12 "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Yes, Jesus is the LIGHT of the world...and I'm so thankful for His Light as HE continues to shine Truth in my world and for exposing the darkness and revealing more Truth each day... I give thanks for when I walk in darkness, His LIGHT redirected me. I so desire to have the LIGHT of life reflect as I follow.

NOTICE the VERSE is 12... for 2012... so then I go and look at John 20:12... and it's the Empty Tomb and Mary with His angels

Then reading Matthew 5:12 verse 12 says "REJOICE..." (where I was last year with JOY) then speaks of SALT followed by...

Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world... let your light shine before men..."

So I picked up two beautiful devotionals, the above one from Karen that I'll be using with SOS... and here is my dedication along with this well known author...

"To Jesus,
the Light of the world
who called me out
of darkness
into His marvelous Light—
that I may proclaim
His excellencies!
~ Sarah Young ~
*Dear Jesus:
Seeking His Light in Your Life

Not only am I seeking HIS LIGHT in my life but I am seeking to SHINE HIS LIGHT as I once did... I want to glow and grow from the "Star of Bethlehem" to reflecting the "Bright Morning Star".

I want to emerge, as Sarah has written in her intro from "my personal struggles" to "seeking a growing intimacy with Jesus Christ" more powerfully in my own life and reflected to those around me.

"I, the Lover of your soul, understand you perfectly and love you eternally."

A glimpse into "Dear Jesus..." by Sarah Young

"Dear Jesus, I’m thankful it is my soul You love, rather than my appearance or performance. So often. I’m dissatisfied with both of these, especially when I make them my focus. I’m grateful for Your perfect understanding, since I sometimes feel misunderstood or simply overlooked. Help me experience more fully Your compassionate, unfailing Love."

from "Dear Jesus: Seeking His Light in Your Life" by Sarah Young

Jesus' response:
Beloved, relax in My loving Presence. Let the Light of My Love soak into your entire being. Rest deeply while I massage your thoughts and feelings, helping you change your focus from yourself to Me. Cease striving and know that I am God. I created you to know Me: to enjoy Me and center your life in Me.

The world abounds with idols—things you turn to when you want to feel better about yourself eating, entertainment, exercise, mastery of something or someone.

However, none of these things can slake the thirst of your soul. which yearns for Me alone. Idolatrous substitutes may suppress your appetite for Me. mainly by distracting you, but they provide no satisfaction. When you get that gnawing sensation around the edges of your soul. return to Me. Your soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods.

Isaiah 54:10; Psalm 46:10; Psalm 63:1-2, Psalm 63:3-5
from "Dear Jesus: Seeking His Light in Your Life" by Sarah Young, .

This is why I've been called to "Fasting and Prayer" as we begin 2012... "Breakthrough to the New" and "Prayer and Fasting" with S.U.M. to see the direction of HIS LIGHT for me

Charlie Hall

At the end of August, I share this song "We Are" by Kari Jobe once again... in Spanish (and another English one) without even realizing that I had previously chosen this way back in the beginning of the year 2012. When I checked this PAGE, I noticed this and also that I had not been adding more LIGHT from Sarah Young's book, which I would have loved to share every one of them and how they have impacted me or stretched me or spoken directly to me.

"Dear Jesus: Seeking His Light in Your Life" has 120 devotionals and what I appreciate so much is the topical index included in this one. So with this many, it is difficult to highlight or choose the ones that stand out or which topics impacted me the most from Adversity to Woundedness. However, the one for the 30th just seems appropriate to share as I head into the special challenge I have set up for September 2012.

"I am always before you, beckoning you on-one  step at a time. Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, can separate you from My Loving Presence"

My how I needed to hear these words today... Sarah continues to speak to Jesus like this (sounds like I could have written this one):

"Dear Jesus, I want to live my life focused on Your Presence in the present. I believe You are always before me, leading and encouraging me, but I need to live out of that reality moment by moment. My mind tends to leap over the present moment to the next task, ignoring the one that is before me and the One who is before me. During rare times when I am able to stay focused on You, my work is infused with Your Presence. It is no longer laborious but delightful: more like play than work..."

and Jesus replies
"Beloved, living in collaboration with Me can be a foretaste of heaven. It is wonderful, though not easy: It requires a level of spiritual and mental concentration that is extremely challenging.

In the Psalms, David wrote about this collaborative way of living, declaring that he had set Me always before him. As a shepherd, he had plenty of time to seek My Face and enjoy My Presence. He discovered the beauty of days lived with Me always before him—and beside him. I am training you to live this way too. This endeavor requires more persistent effort than anything else you have attempted. Yet, rather than detracting from your other activities, it fills them with vibrant Life.

Whatever you do, do it for Me—with Me, through Me, in Me. Even menial tasks glow with the Joy of My Presence when you do them for Me. Ultimately, nothing will be able to separate you from Me. So this you-and-I-together venture can continue throughout eternity."

I waited all year to share this song from Audrey Assad
I had this song in draft waiting the perfect moment to shine along with this:
... Let Me fill you with My Love, Joy, and Peace; these are Glory-gifts, flowing from My living Presence. Though you are an earthen vessel, I designed you to be filled with heavenly contents. ~ Sarah Young ~
Dear Jesus,
I am not only an earthen vessel, I am also a leaky container. I need to be filled and refilled—over and over again. Without You, my emptiness is profound. Please fill me with Your Love, Joy, and Peace in full measure.

from Sarah Young, #120
"Dear Jesus: Seeking His Light in Your Life"

Beloved, come to Me and linger in My Presence. I am eager to fill you with My Glory-gifts, but this takes time: focused time with Me. Do not rush into My Presence, trying to grab as much blessing as you can before making a quick exit. Instead, stay with Me a while, enjoying the awesome privilege of communing with your King. As you wait with Me, My very Life flows into you. I choose to fill you with heavenly substance, even though you are a jar of clay—and a leaky one at that!

I want you to be all Mine—filled to overflowing with My Love, Joy, and Peace. Because these Glory-gifts leak out of you, you need Me continually for renewal. Your neediness is not a mistake or defect: It keeps you looking to Me, depending on Me, communicating with Me. Though you are a frail earthen jar, I have filled you with the most precious treasure: the divine Light of the gospel. Your human frailty is necessary to show that this exceedingly great Power is not from you but from Me.

I am Christ in you, the hope of Glory. As I fill you with My Glory-gifts, let My wondrous Light shine through you into other people’s lives.

I thank Thomas Kinkade for his work now that he has passed on to a greater Light in heaven in 2012. Who would have known this as I started this year with him and his paintings of LIGHT through the "Passages of Light" that he would pass into the Light?

So I dedicate this year as a final tribute to this painter of light that illuminated light in his work of art and reflections from God's Word that drew him into God's light from darkness, an eternal light.
I also thank my sister in Christ, Karen for the gift of "Passages of Light" that touched me and spoke God's Light into my life and for the light she is to me and shines for all of us who have the blessed privilege to know her and read her gift of words, her passages of light as well that draw us nearer to God. When the stars came crashing down
In tiny pieces to the ground
I was all alone down here
Trapped beneath the atmosphere
Then I thought somebody called my name
I spun around and caught a flame
I gave in to a God I didn't know
And now everything is falling into place
A brand new life is calling and I owe it all to grace

It's so much brighter living in Your world
Savior, what you did for me
You gave me something I want everyone to see
When we struggle and it all goes wrong
Only You can make it right
So I say
Oh I'm learning to be the light
I'm learning to be the light

When a heart is cold as ice
You can't melt it with advice
No one wants to listen to
A list of things they shouldn't do
So I build a city on a hill
And I light a candle on a sill
Knowing You'll be always knocking at the door
Oh God I just want to love on everyone
All I have is Yours to give so let the people come

I'm learning to be the light
That makes the shadows hide
I'm learning to be the light
The light that breaks the curse of pride
I'm learning to be the light
he light that takes the weary in it's arms

When it all came crashing down
There was only darkness all around
But in the distance I could see
A Flame

This song and group are new to me ... however the theme of "Learning to be the Light" (the title) is not. I have spent this year focusing on LIGHT: My One Word for 2012

Just because the year is near its end, I can in no way say that I have learned all there is to the WORD: LIGHT nor how to be the best Light, nor all there is to know about
Jesus as the Light. Although I have shared many songs, scriptures, paintings and other posts all this year, I'm sure that I am light years away from learning all I can about LIGHT, but I am so glad I spent this year learning more about Jesus as the Light and that He asks us to be the Light in the darkness all around us.

I believe I have come closer in understand-ing how to shine His Light and be a Light. I do know how important His Light is to me and has been through times of darkness or when shadows just seem to hide the truth and the times when the Light has been clouded or blocked. When I am not in God's Word, I am blocked from the Light. Yet I have learned to "SEEK HIS LIGHT" in my life, throughout my life, but especially this past year as I reflected on His Light and my life.
I could spend another year with LIGHT as my WORD but I won't because I think I heard God whisper another new word for 2013 back in August... (you'll have to come back in 2013 for the big revelation of my word if I decide to share it again...). It's just that I believe this WORD is a long lasting One, worth years of focus and study in the LIGHT. I would love to say that I shine Jesus' Light much better after this year but that is yet to be seen (in a new light in a new year of living as His Light)

I thought about summing up all of the scriptures on LIGHT and the beautiful paintings of Thomas Kinkade with his reflections of "Passages of Light" but the best way is to point you toward the LIGHT: Jesus! My WORD, the WORD! Jesus is LIGHT! Jesus declared Himself to be the exclusive source of spiritual light! He was, is and will be ...

John 8:12 records, “When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, ‘I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but have the light of life.’” The allegory used by the Lord in this verse speaks of the light of His Truth, the light of His Word, the light of eternal Life. Those who perceive the true Light will never walk in spiritual darkness. "

"... the Light of Jesus Christ has to be taken into the darkness of sin that engulfs the hearts and lives of those who are not following Him. That’s the condition behind having this Light – that we follow Him. If we do not follow Him, we will not have this light, this truth, this eternal life."

To understand what and why I'm sharing these read HERE

... I am a God of both intricate detail and overflowing abundance. When you entrust the details of your life to Me, you are surprised by how thoroughly I answer your petitions.Sarah Young ~

Dear Jesus,

I rejoice in Your overflowing abundance! Time after time I have come to You for Life, and You have provided plentifully. It amazes me that One so immeasurably great would care about the tiny details of my life.

Sarah Young, "Dear Jesus: Seeking His Light in Your Life" (p. 248).

Beloved, be attentive to every bit of your life. Actually, small matters can lead to major consequences, so it’s wise to entrust to Me even things that seem unimportant. One way of doing this is through seeking to please Me in every aspect of your life. This changes your perspective and invites Me into all your moments. When you go through a day desiring to please Me, feelings of emptiness give way to abundant fullness. Things around you seem brighter, because the Light of My Presence casts a gentle glow on them. Your efforts to please Me draw us closer and put you in sync with My will. Thus connected with Me, you can enjoy sharing My pleasant, comfortable yoke and My light, easily borne burden.

You receive many blessings through entrusting the details of your life to Me. When you do so, I surprise you in several ways: I answer your prayers bountifully, and I awaken your heart to the radiant pleasure of living in union with Me.

To understand what and why I'm sharing these read HERE

... "I love you regardless of how well you are performing. Bring your performance anxiety to Me, and receive in its place My unfailing Love." ~ Sarah Young ~

Dear Jesus,

I know that performance anxiety is foolish and counter productive. My mind has unmasked this robber of Peace many times, but the rascal continues to claw at my heart when I let down my guard. I find myself struggling with feelings of failure, sometimes without even knowing why. Help me break free from this bondage through the empowerment of Your Love.

Sarah Young, "Dear Jesus: Seeking His Light in Your Life" (p. 132).

Beloved, come to Me with your feelings of failure. Bring them into the Light of My Presence, where we can examine them together. In My brilliant Light, the feelings shrivel and shrink, because they are based on lies. These things thrive in the darkness, where you are hardly aware of them at all. Performance anxiety has been such a regular part of your life that you barely notice it. Yet I defeated that villain in the same way I triumphed over Satan—through My finished work on the cross!

When feelings of failure weigh you down, look up to Me! Let the Light of My unfailing Love shine upon you: dispelling the darkness, lifting you closer and closer to Me. The nearer you are to Me, the better you can see My smile of approval. As you bask in this unconditional Love, you gain strength to break free from your nemesis—performance anxiety. Even if you slip into old habits again, you can turn back to Me anytime. My

unfailing Love is always available to restore you, because you belong to Me forever.

To understand what and why I'm sharing these read HERE

... Nothing is wasted when you walk close to Me. Even your mistakes (messes) can be recycled into something good, through My transforming grace. ~ Sarah Young

Dear Jesus,

I desperately want to believe that my mistakes can somehow be used for good in Your kingdom. The truth is, I hate making mistakes! This attitude can easily translate into hating myself for having messed up. When I let my mind run freely at such a time, I find myself fantasizing about what might have been—if only I had acted or chosen differently. I definitely need a strong dose of Your transforming grace!

fromSarah Young,
"Dear Jesus: Seeking His Light in Your Life"

Beloved, the best strategy for accepting yourself, even when you make mistakes, is living close to Me. This nearness helps you see things from My perspective. You tend to view yourself as someone who should be almost perfect, making very few errors. My perspective is quite different: I see you as My beloved child—weak in many ways, prone to wandering from Me. However, your weakness and waywardness cannot diminish My constant Love for you. Moreover, My infinite wisdom enables Me to take your errors and weave them into an intricate work that is good.

You need to accept not only yourself but also the choices you have made. Fantasizing about having done things differently is a time-wasting trap. It is impossible to live close to Me while you’re indulging in such unreality. The more you fantasize, the further from Me you wander. When you realize this has happened, turn around and run back to Me! Take time to talk with Me and relax in My Presence. Your perfectionist tendencies will dissolve as you soak in My transforming grace.

These are the many topics indexed in Sarah Young's "Dear Jesus: Seeking His Light in Your Life". The one above was chosen because I see "mistakes" as my "messes" and the reason I need His LIGHT and His aMazing GRACE ... I know I will return often this next year and years to come "to seek God's Light" in these other areas as well ...

Adversity, Appearance, Brokenness, Compassion, Condemnation, Connection to God, Endurance/ enduring hardships, Failure, Faith/faithfulness, Fear/ fearfulness, Firm foundation, Flesh (sinful nature), Freedom in Christ, God's Forgiveness, God's Glory, God's will, God's goodness, God's Holiness, Grace, Guilt, Healing, Hope, Idols, Joy, Kingdom of God, Limitations, Loneliness, Love, Making decisions, Meditation on the Word, Mistakes, Neediness, Obedience, Overcoming, Patience, Peace, Performance, Planning, Pleasing God, Power (God's), Praise, Prayer/praying, Problems, Relaxing, Renewing your mind, Repentance, Resting in Him, Righteousness (God's), Satisfaction, Sorrow, Spending time in His Presence, Spiritual Growth, Striving, Success, Thankfulness, Thirst, Transformation, Trials, Trouble, Trust, Victory/ victorious living, Weakness, Wisdom, Worry, Woundedness

As I read through each devotion, I highlighted and marked, hoping to share those which brought new LIGHT for me in 2012. I have chosen from those, the ones I share this last week of 2012 in HIS LIGHT and as HIS LIGHT shines as they struck me. There are many of the 120 that seemed to speak directly to me on the day that I read or God divinely brought me to that one for where I was and where we were/are in our relationship and my relationship with others. I searched for the ones that I pray will touch you, too!

My hope is that I will have a better reflection of HIS LIGHT as my LIGHT to others because of reading His Word and Sarah's "Dear Jesus...". Though Sarah has written each of her books to share "Jesus Calling" and speaking to her, they truly speak to each of us and draw us closer to God and His Light, His Word (our lamp) in a darkened world. We need to seek His Light. We need to be His Light

For if we who know Him, need His Light constantly, but do not shine Jesus' Light to others more brightly, how much more they do... can you imagine how others, who still only know the darkness, who still do not see the Light, do not capture a glimpse of His Light, and continue to wander in the darkness, loose sight, hope and direction, how must they need and feel without knowing His Light and His love for them. How dark the tunnel must be for them, some do not even know it or admit it, but for those who search and for those who don't or have given up, even for those who refuse, they cannot see the LIGHT at the end of their tunnel. But that LIGHT is you and I. We need to go to Our Source and be recharged daily to shine brighter and more fully, acting as Lights for Him and to Him and His Word

God does not want NOT ONE of us to perish. Nor do we!
