"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

This happened in 2008, but I thought I might share it to help me with the loss of our fire about a month ago now, which I have only seen by photos and imagined the rest.  I know many experience loss of home and property to fire and earthly 'storms' but I had HOPE that a Christian monk/brother would have a special word from God SO THAT ... I "... may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (see in context below)

Consider it pure joy, my brothers (and sisters), whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4

This week's focus:

(maybe when I complete the 5 days of lessons or after my day with the Lord, I will have more inspiration to share on ...

My Call to Action:

What have you heard from the Lord this week?  What steps is He asking you to take regarding a trial in your life?  Commit now to take the first steps in obedience to what you have heard.

... this last part of our study each week. Hopefully, I will be able to say like Wendy (or Bobbie):

"... our faith is precious, but the trials of our faith are also precious because in and through them we grow closer to God and share in the praise, glory and honor of God. Can there be any better place?"

I can almost say this ... but I'd prefer to LIVE God's Truth honestly. Before this happened, I had hopes of returning to Minnesota SOON (like after the winter cold) and making 'short term missions' my new way. However, plans have been radically altered, now rebuilding will cause further delay and I just no longer want to wait, nor do I even know if I want to return to what will no longer be the home I left ... the reason I was hoping to return shortly, is because of all the violence here and mostly as I age to be near my home and medical availabilities, places I know and trust ... but now I really need to listen to what God is saying with this ...

O Lord, Trial by fire is not at all something I consider with pure joy. In fact, I'm fighting to find any JOY ... even started receiving a JOY Challenge, but as of yet not doing anything more than reading the emails. I know You have a greater purpose in all this and that You are using this to test my faith and perseverance.

I'm hoping to complete the work ... and trying to persevere but I'm ever so weary and battle fatigued. So much so that I even toppled when I lost my balance getting down from a chair trying to arrange my favorite climbing plant, well, You saw me Lord, fall back right into that same old hole that my foot sunk in when we planted a mango tree. Bricks and scratches, aches and pains, heartache and keepsakes of memories gone. Is this what I get? Falling in a hole again? Keep my eyes looking to You, the Author and Finisher of my faith. Thank You for the sweet rescue from the pit or hole. Thank You for the spiritual encouragement and words from my dear sisters in Christ... in Jesus Name, I pray ...

UPDATE before posting at least:

I don't do Facebook (but it looks like everyone else does, even John Michael Talbot) so as I was preparing these posts, he had written this on his Facebook page Nov. 28, which I should have shared then in my last of my "Giving Thanks ... " in November so I'm squeezing it in here, since I proposed to give thanks, not for all the many countless blessings we have each day, but IN the trials and tribulations, not necessarily FOR them ... a bit more of a challenge, don't you agree? Since this speaks to this as I had hoped he might have spoken on in the first video:

Luke 21:20-28
"Jesus said to his disciples, ‘When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, you must realize that she will soon be laid desolate. Then those in Judea must escape to the mountains, those inside the city must leave it, and those in country districts must not take refuge in it...‘There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by the clamor of the ocean and its waves; men dying of fear as they await what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation is near at hand.’

Jesus says that the trials and tribulations of the last days are NOT times to give into discouragement, but time to "stand erect, and hold your heads high!" These are no ordinary trials of daily life. No! These are extreme, and oppressive in the extreme. YET, this is the time to hold our heads up and be filled with hope!

We all face our own trials and tribulations, and some are extreme, at least to us. These are not times to give into our personal and subjective discouragement, but a time to practice our faith, hope, and charity. What is the worst that can happen? We can suffer and die. But these times cannot steal our soul unless we let them! Do not let trials steal your joy! Jesus gives a love, joy, and peace that the world cannot bring, and cannot steal unless we choose to let it.

If we focus on the spiritual and eternal, then the limited physical and emotional problems of our life will be put in proper perspective in Christ. Furthermore, they become opportunities to embrace the cross of Christ that brings us, and others the power of His resurrection in a supernatural way.

Are we overcome by trials and tribulations? They may get worse! If we use them as a way to focus on Jesus we can rise above them in Him. if we only focus on the storms we will continue to sink beneath the waves until we drown out our spiritual life altogether. Rise up! Look to Jesus! He will empower us with all we need in any trial. The power is His, but the choice is ours. Choose Christ today!"

You'll notice in upcoming pre-planned and drafted posts, that I address this before coming across these words so I know that God is/was speaking this to me, as you shall see. Perhaps you are in your own 'trial', I pray that God will speak to your heart a special word or song of encouragement written with a message of His great Love and aMazing Grace!

... saying: “ We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned ... Revelation 11:17

I chose the image for my "Giving Thanks One day at a Time" from Cross cards long ago with the scriptures that I set up each day and the main scripture on the image I've used all month "Devote yourselves to PRAYER. Keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving." from Colossians 4:2.

Since this month is almost over, I want to draw attention to the leaves in this image and let you know what I see (now that I have walked into another great TRIAL in my life, that I had no way of knowing this could or would or might happen:a total loss of our house to a fire) maybe you see it too ... I see the brown in the background with a tinge of orange in the middle representing the "fire" (death, destruction, as the leaves loose their color and fall they turn brown) then there is a green leaf and a teal leaf, representing two souls, one with new life and the other with a baptized living water spirit filled life, holding up the other GIVING! (I don't have to tell you who I think these two leaves may be). I'd like to say that it's just me and then Jesus but it'd be so much better if it was the other and Jesus! But one gives life to the other and Jesus gives LIFE to each one: His Resurrected Life, which gives us the power and authority to PRAY believing and knowing about eternity with Him! ("Just a leaf away; turn a new leaf and you will see, the glory of God, as He sets you free!" ~ by me)

These leaves are like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace. Yes, I am keeping alert and more than ever devoting myself to PRAYER because if that's what it takes for "one more to come to Jesus", it will be worth it and I know and believe that God would not allow anything to happen if He did not have a greater purpose in it. As difficult as this is to only imagine and wait ... I know that it cannot compare to the Glory of God in Heaven, earthly things are temporary but God and our spiritual life choice(s) are for an eternity!

Isn't it time to GIVE THANKS daily to the Lord God Almighty, who is and was and is to come ... and pledge our allegiance to His Kingdom as Our King of kings, SO THAT one more may be won into eternity forever and ever ... What a privilege it is to know the Lord, Jesus Christ!!! and I see Him standing with you and me, in the middle of the fire ...

Thank You, Lord Jesus!

... saying: “ Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.” ... Revelation 7:12

I could have shared "Blessing and Honor and Glory, they all belong to You" or "You Deserve the Glory" with Juanita Bynum, but Audrey Assad's "New Song" also sings "... Because blessing and honour, and glory, and power and praise and worship. They belong to you. ..." (Listen for this part, it's near the end.) Guess I just need a new song, too!

"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, ...1 Timothy 2:1 ESV

"... supplications for the averting of evil
prayers for the obtaining of good
and thanksgivings for mercies already received ..."
~ Matthew Henry Commentary

Robert Wells says in "How Do I Pray":

"There are four basic steps involved in the proper way to pray.
1--Bring the problem to God's attention immediately. But always keep the problem God centered and not problem centered.
2--Supplication. The definition of supplication is---a very honest and clear confession that tells God that you need his help.
3--Then focus on God and not on the problem. Keep in mind that our prayers are always to be God centered.
4--Thanksgiving. You are thankful because you know the following about our great and mighty and glorious God.
  • That you can come to the Father with your problems anytime
  • That He is concerned about you
  • That He loves you
  • That He said that He would help you
  • That He will see you through this problem
  • That He has the power to solve this problem
  • That you trust Him 100%"
... and very much more if you follow the link...

Oh Heavenly Father, I am so grateful for mercies already received. Keep me so humble that I will be able to pray for ALL people, even those that may be difficult to pray for and certainly for anyone different than me in their beliefs, and ways of life.

Thank You that You love me so! Thank You that I can call on You 24/7, You are always there, no call waiting or answering machine, direct line. Thank You that I can come to You with any problem, big or small, any time. Thank You that You are genuinely concerned for every aspect and part of me and my life. Your Word says that You will help me in my time of need and to trust You completely.

I am so glad that You have the power to solve any problem, in fact, You are much greater than any problem so there is nothing that You cannot help me. You are so great and so greatly to be praised and thanked!

Teach me all I need to know to pray and be still to listen to what You say. As I intercede for others, guide me and direct my thoughts and prayers, help me to focus on Your will, not mine. I will pray to avert evil and obtain good for me, others and as You direct or whisper so sweetly the name of someone who needs to be lifted in prayer this day or night. I give You all the glory, honor and praise forever and ever...
I've been thinking about 2013 already since August, and have  even started drafting some posts with some new ideas I have for then. But with some of them, I'm having the hardest time waiting.

For example, since this is Tuesday, I sometimes have done "Tunes On Tuesday" to share some of my music delights, instead of waiting until TSMSS or WOW or SOS (various memes I've tried) ... but I'm now thinking about Tuesday being "Tuesday's Truth" (either from "Living Truth" or "Transformed By Truth") or maybe "Transformed by Truth Tuesday" or "Transformed by Living Truth Tuesday" ... only so I can share more from Wendy Blight's wonderful studies like LIVING SO THAT... or a new author, Noelle Dey that I'm reading her new great book "Transformed by Truth" (but I really should be DOING her book) which is 30 days to a healthy heart, mind and body.

Nonetheless, on Tuesdays, I'd like to share some Truths that I am learning or at least point you toward the Truth and hopefully Living the Truth. To me the Truth is Jesus. His Word is the Truth. And for me to be  more like Jesus or transformed by what I read in God's Word, the Bible, I need to begin LIVING and applying those Truths each day, each week as I am being taught, studying or hearing the Truth shared. I have one blog post that I add to from Wendy's current Online Bible Study, Living So That:Our Call to Action (see my right hand sidebar, toward the top).

Today, we should be beginning our 3rd week with TRIALS SO THAT  ... and just this as the topic should be enough for you to want to join us. Clearly, this week, I will be paying close attention since by now, most of you know that I(we) are in the midst of a heavy trial. Some of you have constant trials. Each of us have encountered trials along our life journey SO THAT... (well, you'll have to come see what Wendy shares) but I just had to add all of this with HOPE (because if you read yesterday's post, GMG has started Advent a week early and the first week in Advent is focused on HOPE). That's exactly what I need to do and have earnestly been trying to do, but some of the weight I'm carrying has to deal with hopeless TRIALS and being helpless, their purpose in mine is unknown, yet I do know, at least, that God has a greater purpose than I can see ... and if you are trying to see through clouded eyes, or ashes or health problems or financial ones or whatever situation seems to be stealing your JOY or holding you back or weighing you down or keeping you from attaining or being all you can be for God's glory, then it's time for you to get into God's Word deeper, draw closer and focus your heart and mind on Jesus' Truth!

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV

Although Advent starts on Dec. 2nd,
is starting
I love to prepare for
this way!
"Keeping Our Hearts Focused on Jesus"

In fact, on Thursday, we light a candle and sing 2 songs, one of which I'm adding today, since it goes along with MY ONE WORD for 2012: LIGHT but I found a video that would be better closer to CHRISTmas (so who knows? maybe I'll share it again):Jesus: Light of the World

1 Thessalonians 5:18
was in
Wendy's Bible study
in our week 2
"Praying SO THAT ... "
(actually it was the verse before this, but I have to read God's Word in context)

Heavenly Father, I know 'this' is in Your Word and that it is Your will to give thanks in all circumstances, yet when circumstances are difficult, it is not an easy thing to do.
When circumstances are alright, we tend to forget but at least it's easier. Perhaps that's why You sometimes need to get our attention through difficulties. But I'm sure You know that I (and another dear sister in Christ) would be coming to You daily anyways giving thanks, so give us grace and ease off just a bit, OK? By now, You realize that I need You every day and desire to spend my day and nights with You, and as close as we can be in all circumstances.

Lord, I ask forgiveness for the times I find it difficult to give thanks or my attitude is less than grateful because I am ever so grateful for so very much. Keep my heart attuned to Yours and always giving You thanks! I know that You are not asking me to thank You for the evil or horrible things that happen! You are Sovereign! You are the BEST! I do give thanks IN all things, but necessarily FOR all things! You are working all things together for good and Your glory. I trust You! I believe that You are and I believe You and in You! Thank YOU!!! Thank You so much for guarding, guiding and giving me all You do!

*sorry to my prior commenters, but this is an update: Somehow I missed that this was SONday and I did not add anything to these 2 beautiful scriptures from Hebrews nor did I post the "R" Hymn for "Hymns 2 Him". I have come back to add that and another wonderful song.

"Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, ..." Hebrews 12:28 ESV

"Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name ...Hebrews 13:15

One of my favorites Sandi Patty
(guess I no longer have my music of her back home)(sigh)
so I'm rebuilding
my Kingdom collection
"Unshakeable Kingdom"

This was easy to do, because
Book 3 of "Then Sings My Soul"
only has 1 hymn

"Redeemed, How I Love to Proclaim It"

This popular gospel song by Fanny Crosby first appeared with William Kirkpatrick's jubilant tune
in the hymnal Songs of Redeeming Love, published in 1882.

There were other beautiful versions available but I chose this one since I already shared a wonderful song and because it comes from Hymn Club (and I wanted to share that link as well to their You Tube channel). Of course, there are many other great Hymns that begin with "R". But here is a link to Net Hymnal for this hymn.

Let us offer HIM a "sacrifice of praise"... "giving thanks to His Name" ... may this be the fruit of our lips this day and every day.

Giving you my best of praise Lord and not focusing on what was ... but looking towards that unshakable kingdom and offering hopefully an "acceptable worship with all reverence and awe of You". I want to be a Kingdom Builder, not one that allows destruction or tearing down to break the truths and principles found in Your Word that speak of Life and building up. I've been called to rebuild.

what about you?

The LINKY is in the HYMN PAGE!

"Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving ... " Colossians 4:2

A couple of songs to go with week 2 of "Living So That ... with Wendy Blight because this week was "Pray So That"

"Prayer" ~ Petra
[another video with the words included below]
Based on 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18, Ephesians 6:18-19, Matthew 6:9-13

And this song by Twila goes perfectly with C. and F. (or Day One, Two of Wendy's pdf) "Watch and Pray"

"Watch and Pray" ~ Twila Paris
Matthew 26
Colossian 4:2

Meanwhile I'm trying to focus on this part from Colossians
Colossians 3:2

Lord, Help me set my affection on things above once again and not on things on the earth. I will earnestly continue in prayer, seeking more of You, being alert and vigilant. Continually giving thanks ... which means that I will pursue an attitude of 'constantly recurring' prayer. (part C. of Wendy's teaching) May my spirit remain open and ready to meet You in prayer and hear from You. Whatever I go through, redeem it and use it for Your purposes. Thank You for allowing this 'fire' to reveal things in my life that need to be strengthened. Please show me how to build a firm foundation on You that nothing can destroy.

Listening for prayer triggers for the others I lift to You in prayer ... always seeking to be in Your presence, holding on to You, and my hope in You, knowing You are with me. Thank You so much! I love You so.

* added this after it posted when I read "Reminders from God" for today:
"Comfort Me by letting Me know that you would see Me just to dwell in My Presence. Not for teaching, not for material gain, not even for a message, but for Me. The longing of the human heart to be loved for itself is something caught from the Great Divine Heart."

Thank You Lord for Your sweet Comfort! I do just want to dwell in Your Presence(listen to my song at Missions)(well, of course, I know God heard it when I posted it) not for teaching, not for material gain, not for anything that You can or will do for me, but just for You! (that's what our Fridays are all about - not to ask anything of You, but just spend time in Your Presence, in adoration, praise and thanks). I long for You! I long for others to know Your Divine Heart and draw close to You, so close that they may hear Your whisper and know it's You! May I hear the beat of Your heart in mine ...

Colossians 3:15-19 ESV

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

May this be our prayer today and every day!

let the peace of Christ rule in my heart.
Thank You for calling me to be one in the
Body of Christ!

May Your Word dwell in me richly, teaching and admonishing me in all wisdom. May I sing songs, the psalms and hymns with great thankfulness in my heart to You, O God!

And whatever I do, may it be pleasing to You, in words that I speak and deeds as I act in the love You have given to me to give to others. Put a guard over my tongue or my mouth so only words that glorify You and build up others in the Body come forth. Be in control and give me Your power to speak forth words in love only, as I refrain from any other words that do not edify or encourage. May everything I do, be worthy of You and done in the Name of Jesus. I give thanks to You, God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit through whom we bow this day in humble adoration, praise and thanks so that Your peace, love, mercy, grace and glorious compassion flow endlessly in Your power, name and authority, I pray ... Thank You for Your peace!

Ephesians 1: 16-18

"I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the Hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, ... "

This is my prayer!
How I thank You, Lord, for each one
of my dearest loved ones in my heart
these precious sisters
(and brothers)
in Christ
so much!
"the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints"
May He give each of you
"a spirit of wisdom and of revelation
in the knowledge of Him"
"the eyes of your hearts BE enlightened"
May you
"know what is the Hope to which He has called you"
May you
for all the riches
of His glorious inheritance in the saints
now and forever
in Jesus' precious Name

Thank You, Lord

* my Thanksgiving wish for each of you was at the end of yesterday's "GIVING THANKS One Day at a Time". May you enJoy a blessed and bountiful Thanksgiving, as you give thanks to God with family, friends and others; as you bow your heads and thank God for His many blessings and let each person know how much you love them and thank them for what they add to your life. "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful ..." Colossians 3:15

As many of you are making preparations for your BIG day of THANKSGIVING or perhaps traveling to that special place to share with others, may God be with you! I will celebrate in a more quiet sort of way with God and all my thanks for so very much but very much aware that "Turkey Day" here becomes chicken shared and not any of the wonderful trimmings or extras from back ... (pause) ... the way I remember.

I have decided to share a long post (that I started last week thinking it would be after Thanksgiving, maybe not even until December when I would add it to share, but in order to really GIVE THANKS from a pure heart, I must do this today) with this verse in mind, knowing that only God brings this kind of PEACE!

Hope it doesn't spoil my wish for you to enjoy the most wonderful day of the year, giving thanks to God, surrounded with loved ones or friends or perhaps giving of yourself to others in the Body or family of God that need an extra hand and a delicious meal from gracious volunteers of helping hands - being Jesus. My card is at the end of this BLOG post because I'm not sending out Thanksgiving ecards, but do want you to know I am GIVING THANKS for each of you that pass by here and that I have the privilege to know via internet. You bless me greatly!!! Words cannot express how much it means to me to have people that do not even know me care and connect with me as you take the time to do! May God richly bless you as you have blessed me!

On another note:

First off, I want to apologize to how this is going to sound, not so thankful or even very Christ-like, but it's just an honest reaction that I must get out there (perhaps I may need to repent on Black Friday, but 'things' don't get any blacker for me than soot, ashes and destruction) you know when something's on your mind, it's best to air it, not stuff it especially for me, I can't bear the extra weight on my shoulders or anywhere for that matter.

Yes, as you read it, you may say ohhh, she needs a good counselor to help her deal with this and you're right, I probably do and have for a long time. But you see, I already have the BEST COUNSELOR and Comforter in the Holy Spirit, and I just need to listen and hear Him as He speaks to my heart and mind to calm whatever's going on. I am so thankful for God's benevolence and aMazing Grace, which I can never say enough or adequately express my deepest gratitude and praise to Him! Yet, it does hurt to write what I'm about to say, but I pray that you know its no reflection on God or my belief in Him and His power! I wish I could say it's easy to praise Him or thank Him in the 'storm' or the trials but it's not! There I said it. Although I know that when I do praise God, it weakens and lessens the enemy's grip or power to infiltrate or continue with the relentless battle, I just seem helpless or hopeless momentarily, then the fire begins to bubble, brew and burst forth. Sad to say, I must confess to letting anger and other stuff take root or blow off the steam, then the tears and shame come. (In Lysa's terms, according to her "Unglued"  assessment, I am an exploder) (this in no way excuses me, but ya' see I'm imperfect and with stuff like I'm going through, I become unglued)
Peggy's Result:
Exploder who shame themselves
on quiz: The Unglued Assessment
In this relationship you quickly express your emotions without holding back. In the moment, fully expressing yourself feels good. You like getting your hurt or disappointment off your chest. But later, when you’ve cooled down a bit, you feel ashamed of how you responded. Lysa TerKeurst’s Biblically-based book, Unglued, will show you how to quickly process your feelings so the tension causing this conflict dissipates rather than escalates. Click here for more information.

Here's my deal: when people respond "yeah but it's only material ..."  (true) "You can be thankful that life or more was not taken." (And boy am I ever!!!)

Now, here's the rub or my gripe (sorry, Lord)! Here goes ---

I certainly know that "it's just material" and "I can't or won't take it with me" (I won't need it there or any longer). But we all have material stuff that we don't want to part with and the more we have, it seems the more we want and the less we have, we have a easier time letting go, but even then, we still want more or have dreams of living the American dream of so much wealth and riches (yeah, right, tell that to the many suffering without homes, etc.). I do know that I am rich however in what I have in Jesus Christ. Praise God!

I have learned to live with much less conveniences than I had in MN/USA living in Mexico for 16+yrs. back and forth between them. Yet, to loose or have taken most of what you have or others worked for all of their life go up in smoke, it's not so easy to swallow ... and so much easier to just say, "it's just material stuff ...  move on ... get over it or get rid of it, look ahead, don't look back" ... when it's NOT your stuff. Insurance may cover "stuff" but it will never be the same again and yes, life will go on with or without the stuff. But some stuff has no price tag. Some stuff will never be replaced nor can it be compensated. [Guess that's enough stuff in' for Thanksgivin' ] And the ache in your heart or mind or deep inside you may fade, or it may rage on (and become your worst enemy to deal with later) even if you stuff it temporarily. We may "treasure it up in our hearts" or we may bury the seed of bitterness, rage, anger, defeat, despair, devastation and those roots will go down deep and take hold or claim you. Beware! It's not that easy! But it could be ... if you let Jesus have it!

We all know "it's only material" but we work really hard to get it all; we all have wants for the material or we would not keep buying stuff; we all need to make due with less but we continue stacking up or storing more when others in need suffer; we all can sacrifice material stuff but we don't, and what that 'stuff' represents that too many of us have pursued and invested our day to day life in that 'stuff' ... well, it's not an eternity. Yet we have heard the lyrics of popular music, one which just popped in my head, "... but we are living in a material world ..." (but I'm not)  and yet my spiritual side tells me, we are not suppose to be, nor conform to the ways of the world. Whatever we endure, His care is certain, His love is unfailing, His promises are secure, the final outcome has already been determined and won. So we each must press on, for those of us who know Jesus Christ as LORD, in Him, through Him and by Him! What about those without?

So then I seek what God's Word says and one can hardly forget the story of Job when you're thinking of loss - complete loss from all sides. Job, someone who God gave permission to the enemy to hurl every type of destruction and devastation of loss at Job, testing his resilience and faith in God. (Job 42:2 - Job's response) WOW! And I search for the Job in me as I read on in other passages: (Daniel 3:17)(Isaiah 26:3)(Matthew 1:21)(Romans 11:26-27) (Hebrews 7:25)(2 Corinthians 9:8)(Matthew 25:29)(Ephesians 3:20) (Philippians 4:11-13)(2 Chronicles 16:9) clearly I could go on and find more, I know, but now my heart has to be open to receive as I believe.

I do know, without a shadow of a doubt that God has not forgotten me. But one certainly weighs the heaviness of being sifted, loosing ground (well, actually that's one of the things not yet lost, winter's coming though soon), grappling for the open ear, hand and move of a Highly Merciful God. Holding on, coping, dealing with it all from a distance and some right in the ashes. God can handle it when we question His ways and put the blame on Him (which I did not blame but I always question "why" and "what am I to learn"). But He wants us to accept what He sends us and still trust His goodness and His love. He has a purpose for our sorrow and loss. I knew this.

Most of the Mexicans I encounter have not really responded with deep sympathy (boo hoo) or compassion to my plight or that of many others in the USA. I imagine when you don't have much too loose, all this 'stuff' has no meaning. It's just kind of a 'shrug your shoulders' and what can you do? I use to be a much cheerier optimist and this pessimistic outlook gets to me. Now most anything gets to me. My heart breaks over poverty and daily watching the spirit of poverty in so many. My heart aches hearing and watching the violence and injustices. I am moved and want (no, feel strongly compelled to do something, after all that's why I'm here) but somehow that compassion is not exchanged when 'they' look at me. I've allowed myself to be numbed and paralyzed by life's experiences too often. Not filled with the zeal and passion and fight I had when I first came here. So the enemy, through the years, has been underhandedly and ever so carefully waging a quiet, calculated war against me as God chisels, molds and forms me with a protective, guarded, loving touch and a powerful hand.

If you are the one who is having to sift through your personal belongings,
or trying to list or remember what you had and lost,
or trying to pick up the pieces and piece them together,
or have invested your entire years of hard work into what you have and now it's gone, or home improvements for many years for nothing "what home...?" starting over,
or your financial security for your future was all in the place you use to call home ...

God isn't finished yet, pay day is on the way, and He triumphs in rebuilding and restoring; now you just need to have the same restorative mentality and spirit in you, rise up and soar ...

I started this with a different objective, triggered by "it's only MATERIAL thingsand somewhere mid point God took over then I returned to my "pit" of my pitiful self with a full blown pity party (but I'm not just thinking of me) but don't call me Mara (Naomi's story) just yet.

I wrote I would be GIVING THANKS in November - but not in the regular awesome, many blessings of God and all the many daily ones I can give thanks for; rather I was choosing to challenge myself to be different and give thanks in the trials and tribulations. Little did I know, when I set these posts up before November ever got here with scriptures, and then began adding to each post as I was able or prompted by the scripture of that day. When suddenly at the end of October, WHAM, a 'Job experience' hit me and my household back in MN, a house which I no longer can call home is gone. That which I knew will never be again. I was immediately confronted with how would I give thanks to God now.  I now have/had a major trial before me each day as I continue to give thanks and I just wanted to forget what happened on October 30th, but I can't and I'm not even there to sift through the ashes or choose what material 'stuff' I want to keep. Yet I sit here down in Mexico, gazing at some of the last photos I have with me of how it was when I left years ago and did not even have any of the current home projects of improvement completed and my mind goes through every corner and inch of that house, trying to capture what was where, where did I have this or that. Yep, material things. You can love 'em, you can leave 'em, you can be deceived into thinking you can't live without 'em but "treasures", well, those you can ponder and cherish in your memories and your heart, they can't be replaced nor can they be taken. Those spiritual matters, however, are closely intertwined and it is with FAITH and HOPE, you are able to move on in God's strength, not your own. I still say "to God be the glory" and may this be used to bring Him glory and others to their knees once again for their personal need of knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, cuz the time is short and the time is now...

It's at this point, I am faced with my recent October series of "Taking My Treasures Back" and now I understood why God prompted me to do that writing as preparation for the sifting.  "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21 ; Luke 12:34) and the GIVING THANKS through the trials SO THAT ... (James 1:2-4)

I could do another series on "being sifted
but not this year

I think the Father is writing a special LOVE LETTER for you  on this your wonderful day! Listen carefully to the songs in  your heart because one of them is being sung just to you and for you!!! (I may add one here if I think it's His Love letter or song to you and the day is not over until the sun sets)! Keep hoping and hold on to good thoughts lil one. I think I hear Our Lord singing this for now!!! You are His dear precious daughter ... I'll keep listening and let you know if I find or hear any more but it may come direct to you!

*Comments are closed here but I'd love for you to go and wish Denise a very happy birthday and say some special prayers for her. Make Denise's "requests known to God" ... but, of course, we realize He already knows, He just wants us to join her ...
