"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

Here and there, interspersed sparsely, I started 2014 sharing one of my many new Beth Moore books:

by Beth Moore

I love this devotional by Beth Moore and it is for 70 days (10 weeks). However, I have not shared nearly that many (more like 7, as I started with; "here and there"), because I only share these on Monday and have done other series that interrupted that flow.

So since I started my year of 2014, over again, I will also be starting these over with Day 1 (and just skip the ones I've already done but link to them) because the purpose of these "Whispers of HOPE" is PRAYER and my 2014 purpose definitely has been "prayer"; mixed also with the fact that Beth's title has MY ONE WORD: HOPE and I've been clinging and holding on to HOPE since this year started, and now plan to continue sharing Beth's devotional "Whispers of Hope" and the blessing this book and she is to me (via her teaching(s) on Life Today, in her many books, and on her blog or wherever I can catch some of her and her ministry). ... I use (MOM) for this day only because of the letters, because Beth is too young to be my "MOM" yet in many ways, she is a spiritual MOM to many of us, especially to ones like I that can relate to how she shares and from where God has brought her (like us-from the pit to a purpose filled life). Somehow, Beth seems to emanate in a way that I can identify and sense the same passion in how she ministers ... so with no further ado, I return to Beth Moore ... (my little sister in Christ) love ya' ... (if she only knew how much this and she means to me) like many of you, who give me HOPE ...

for today
Day 1
Focus: Genesis 1: 1, 25
Scripture Reading: Genesis 1:1-27;
Genesis 2:1-3

NOW since we are starting the year of 2014 again ... NEW ... it only makes sense that we start in the beginning ... the beginning of this world ... the beginning of the Bible [boxed sections are from Beth Moore's book, and the Bible]

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."...v.1

"... And God saw that it was good."... v. 25

Beth starts out with this ... in the beginning ... of this devotional

"God recorded His Word through the pens of inspired men chiefly for one reason - to tell us about Himself. In the first few swipes of ink,
He demonstrated something vastly important among His attributes ..."~Beth Moore, p. 5

what might your guess be?

CLUE (to the answer for the question above in blue)

"Only God could combine wholly creative and completely orderly."~Beth Moore

Beth ends with this to lead us into PRAYER

..."Take a few moments to think of reasons to praise our creative and orderly God. Then lift those praises to Him in an attitude of thanksgiving."~Beth Moore, p. 5

Beth goes on after making the above statement to writing about how some of us are creative and some of us are orderly; yet rarely do they abide together and thus we discover that "we need one another" or "our different contributions are unbalanced and lacking." But not so, with God ... He's complete and "He needed no one to complete Him." God desires to be totally creative with you ... and then she asks us,

"Do you allow Him this freedom?"

[I had to laugh to myself because Beth writes "what God is doing in your life may not make any sense to you" ... because "we tend to want a blueprint of His plan" so we can decide if we want to SURRENDER ... and so many other great points in just this one page devo.] Thanks Beth! Great place to start over with ... SURRENDER ... how often we need to be reminded of this.

Reminder of the format that Beth suggests in this book for our PRAYER with the acronym of PRAISE: Praise, Repentance, Acknowledgement, Intercession (for others), Supplication (of self), Equipping

The P.R.A.I.S.E. Pattern for Prayer
{a similar one from B. Courtney McBath Ministries}
This is the time for you to PAUSE and PRAY (whether you follow this format) just speak to God from your heart from this new beginning of surrender ...

Heavenly Father, How I praise You for chances of new beginnings after our "resurrection" moments or another chance to redeem and surrender not only our lives, but each day. I surrender to You this day. Let it be Your way, not mine. I surrender my thoughts to Yours and to Your Word spoken and breathed into me to give me, or anyone a "new life" ... a new 'jump start' with You, that is surrendered to Your creative yet orderly way.

Forgive me for plunging ahead my own way ... before checking "it" out with You, going about life on my own and putting aside Your Word or You for what comes naturally to me, to go it on my own ... follow my own steps, or return to the muck and yuck of my past and my old self, sometimes selfish and sometimes oblivious that others also are carving their own path toward You and their journey with You (some without You) and forgive me for not being that "light and salt" that I should be and resorting to my poor choices or decisions or habits that have become so ingrained as a part of me that I forget that each day not only needs to start with You but be lived with You walking beside me, in front of me, guiding me, directing me ... that I may do as You would ask me to do, think and act. We speak it and seek it, but often fail to live it on a day to day basis so that others may notice the difference You make in us. That's what I want ... or hopefully that's what You want ... and I'm finally surrendered in every way to intentionally repenting and living afresh and renewed as a reflection of Jesus every day in every way ...

I lift up all those that I intercede for on a regular basis (You know my list) ... and You even know their needs far better than I do ... I acknowledge Your right to reign and rule in my life. I deliberately submit to You as LORD of my life, and thank You that You are my Savior, yet totally want to acknowledge Your Lordship in every area of me. I am Yours. I bow to You this day and say: Have Your way in me; quicken my spirit the minute I wander or depart from Your authority. All authority belongs to You over all that I do this day and every day. May I exercise Your authority and give You the place You deserve first in my thoughts, actions and words. May Your Spirit fill me anew and may the fruits increase and I decrease. Thank You for this new beginning and devotion from Beth Moore starting with Genesis.

I ask You to equip me in every way for a victorious day! Give me Your eyes to see and ears to hear You speak or whisper to me ... give me a heart that responds as You would ... empower me to witness where You lead, I ask for a double portion of Your Holy Spirit. In ALL this, I ask in Jesus' precious name and give You thanks for EVERYTHING that I will be content in whatever comes my way ... give me Your strength and wisdom in every step.

All glory, honor and praise belongs and goes to You ... I love You forever and always ... Yours ...

I could spend hours giving You PRAISE for Your Creative and Orderly ways ... instead I just put on songs like THIS

(once I start it's really hard for me to stop or stay on track or stick to the format ... but I try) ... you should hear how my daily morning and evening prayers go ... this is why I don't write out my prayers too often here, or even at the Lighthouse of Prayer because it's a miracle if I find an ending, a place to stop or a new beginning, one idea leads to another ... somehow it seems to continue, with the less interruptions I encounter the more I stay communicating throughout every part of my day ... thankful for I am afforded days like this ...

(I don't share this much every MOM but lately when I do share, it's been a lot more).

* For more details about this when I started sharing "Whispers of Hope" go back here and here. Often I share the teachings of Beth Moore from Life Today but I will do my best to not change course again but steady my course for Mondays to focus on "Whispers of HOPE" with MOM.

SOS ~ "The Rose Garden"

Back on January 12th, I shared a calendar "Gardens of Grace" with paintings by Thomas Kinkade, sharing an enlarged version of the 4th painting in that calendar, which would be for April (a perfect painting of a peaceful walk in a Garden with Jesus on a beautiful spring in full bloom) ...

... since this is still April, that should be the painting I share today, and my how I would love to take a walk with Our King, on a bright day in spring ... however, I have chosen the entrance gate to a particular part of this Garden of Grace ...

"The Rose Garden"
[by Thomas Kinkade]

... yes, "The Rose Garden" because it is filled with the sweet fragrance of roses, one in particular this SONday after the Resurrection - the Rose of Sharon (at least I think that is the one I see climbing up along side this gate to the right) the bright pink flowers seem to be clinging and inviting us in ...

"... am the rose of Sharonand the lily of the valleys ..." Song of Solomon 2:1 (KJV)

I read this quote from a tweet that Jennifer Rothschild shared this week and for some reason I held on to it as I contemplated on walking with Jesus in this garden ... through this gate ... with Jesus as the Gate (John 10:7-10) my Gate to HOPE (my One Word) John 10:7 and John 10:9 specifically

"Hold on to HOPE. But if you are weary, you can ask hope to hold onto you, because He is our hope!"~ Jennifer Rothschild 4/21 tweet

hold on to you too
as I listen
"place my hope"

Jesus, the only name that brings freedom and hope..."

*sorry about the ad before the song, kinda spoils it, but if you catch it in time, you can click on SKIP AD ... I wish I could have taken it off ... again sorry... I know it takes away from the focus and impact of the Name JESUS but the song is worth listening to and waiting to hear and sing along.

I realize that this is only Friday (not WOW Weds) but I've decided that I will be doing "The Resolution for Women" on Fri. instead of Weds. kinda as a recap and what we're (I'm) reading for this next week; also kinda sticking with the same day as Priscilla Shirer (the author of this book) did/does with her book club (when this book was first published) and she does "podcasts" each week. So maybe even if you don't have the book, you can listen along and gain some wonderful insights.

Since as you know, Friday is my day offline and set aside as my prayer date with Our Lord, I will be doing these ahead and posting on Fri. (so I will not see any comments or respond until Sat. or later), but I welcome your input as always.

Between now and next Friday
the assignment is (if you have the book):

Part 1

(oh, and don't forget the intro - Resolution Revolution)
Resolution Revolution Book Club
From Priscilla Shirer's "Going Beyond" Ministry Blog

Week 1: Surprisingly Satisfied
Reading: pages 11-28
Memory Verse: 1 Samuel 12:16
Begin HERE

"Surprisingly Satisfied"

"Every Bite Counts"
"The Secret"
"Overflowing Blessing"
"The Balancing Point"

"I do solemnly resolve to embrace my current season of life and will maximize my time in it. I will resist the urge to hurry through or circumvent any portion of my journey but will live with a spirit of contentment."

Soaking in just the first one of the four (trying to recall what it was like when I was only 36 like Priscilla) as I carefully consider what the Bible says in the following Scriptures about CONTENTMENT and on the Reflection Questions:

1 Timothy 6:6 (NLT)
1 Timothy 6:8 (AMP)
 Hebrews 13:5 (NASB)

(if you run your cursor over any scriptures on my blog, the scripture should appear but it is NIV-I think and the versions in parentheses is what the book uses) You can answer these even without the book. So participation does not mean that you need to purchase the book, but just know that you are missing out on some really valuable stories and insights (yet I hope to capture some of what stands out to me).

  • "What have you been hurrying through?"
  • "What have you been hurrying to get to?"
  • "What are some of the good parts of your experience that you've missed in your attempt to rush through the more difficult ones?"
  • "What can you do differently today to "scrape the plate" to gather up all the good things around you and begin enjoying the journey of your life?"

Trust me you don't want me to answer these or it would be a book,
however, I think my October line-up of posts may give some of these answers.

My recent trip home to MN and back to MX so quickly could definitely be
one something that I hurried through and to get to in a hurry. The obvious good parts of the experience might have been spending time seeing God work in and around my husband's recovery from his rollover accident and critical surgery, and in him spiritually, although you can be sure, I put God's two cents worth in from my arrival to my departure; and I did enjoy my husband telling me how much he appreciates me coming home, caring for him, and the changes he sees in me.

Yet my life with him over the past 40 years have been filled with moments like these and I always get my hopes up that this time it will be different. And then I wait ... to see God move. God does, that isn't the problem, it's waiting for him to receive and accept the Truth of salvation and Jesus Christ, his need for a Savior (not "I can do this on my own", etc.) but God is ever so patient and ever so good. I thank God for giving and arranging all the steps to get me there, in the last minute and I clearly saw His hand in much of this "hurry to" get to MN before my husband's surgery, so I could tell him the reason I came was "because God sent me and made it possible," which amazingly was true! (small miracles I would not want to miss or hurry through) to hear my husband share that he is content with or in his life. I want him to see that I too am content and my spirit of contentment comes from God through Jesus Christ.

Trying to accept things as they are and be content until God speaks or moves once again to open doors. Learning to live in Mexico, has taught me much about being content with what I have and who I am, even the "where" I am and the "why" and how long (or at this point "how much longer?") and "until when?" I definitely learned through the extension of winter in MN that I am not ready to readjust to that season that I loved except for the bitter cold quite yet ... after 18 years away from winter, snow and cold, my physical body is not quite prepared to freeze once again. So that will have to be a gradual readjustment, I'm thinking ...

I already looked ahead at next week's RESOLUTION (#2) and to tell you the truth, I'm not that thrilled about it, so I may linger longer in this 1st RESOLUTION (and just read through the next section and listen to what Priscilla has to say) perhaps she will sway me, or change my heart and mind to be open more ... so as you can see, I'm already balking about being resolved to these resolutions. Probably something that God wants to refine and work in and on me ... we'll see. Maybe I'm reading something into this next resolution that I need to consider and reconsider.

Maybe I need 3 more weeks in the above chapters of Part 1 because, though I think I am content, perhaps I am not living as one content before others. Actually, according to Resolution #1, I need to resist the urge to circumvent any portion (which I guess means Resolution #2 for me) ... so in a spirit of contentment, I will not hurry through or SKIP#2. Just keeping it honest ...

(oh, and before I forget, Priscilla shared some podcasts in 2014 on these resolutions so here's the one for #1 "Surprisingly Satisfied") but she did these on Weds. oh well ... Here's her blog with the Book Trailer, in case you need more convincing that we need these RESOLUTIONS.

"What if we let go of the baggage of our past, clarified our convictions, and then pursued faithfulness to God, our marriages and children for the rest of our lives?"~Priscilla Shirer, from the Forward of "The Resolution for Women"

May it stir and challenge us!
to be the best and live a life in pursuit of
God's best

(Philippians 1:6)

"Come with me (with Priscilla and her book) on a
Resolution Revolution
that will be worth every step we take
"this resolution is with God" first
second, "it will impact those you love"

can't get much better than that

Don't forget the Memory Verse
1 Samuel 12:16

Sidenote: I found this study on "Being Content" (pdf) for Home Fellowship
and this video "Finding Contentment in every season of life" for a Women's Bible Study by Laurie Cole.

Maybe Resolution #1 is the ONLY one I need to do ... yeah, right?

WOW ~ Starting Over 2014 Again

It's a New Day, a New Week and a New Direction here for Weds.
in lieu of this being Resurrection Week, it's another start over
or attempt by me to start 2014

Yep! another
start of 2014 once again

When 2014 started, I had hoped to do this, yet then I was led to begin with something else ... so now I am back to this, which I just discovered in 2013 (but I guess it's actually from 2011) so I'm just a couple of years behind this time, instead of decades.

As most of you know, and also do, I do not do "resolutions for the year" but instead I choose (or allow God to give me, as He impresses upon my heart) MY ONE WORD (I notice that the new fad this year is to have an "un-word") ... but I digressed and now return to ... what I discovered in 2013, and considered doing for 2014 ... with or by Priscilla Shirer

"The Resolution for Women"

No, I have not read this yet, but purchased it last year and then set it aside for such a time as this. Doing Blog posts about the books I have, motivates me to not only read them, but apply them and be accountable. So this is to preempt my saying that: I have no idea where this is going or for how long, but it is my new direction for today with these resolutions, especially the first one which is where I am and what I need for this fresh start after this glorious Resurrection SONday of 2014 ... Hallelujah!

Resolution: [rez-uh-loo-shun] n

a. the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method,  procedure, etc.
b. the mental state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness of purpose.

{There are 13 resolutions and don't worry if you can't read them here,
because the plan is to look at each one closer, each week}

In fact, on Priscilla's Blog, she actually had a Book Club for this for 14 weeks (if I knew about this THEN, when she wrote it and shared this in 2011, we could have done this with her back then). She does these on Fri. but that will not matter here since these were done in 2011 (And if you came here looking for the WORD ON WEDS. of 52 Scripture Verses, you'll have to go back to the last one to see what I did to finish 'em up-sorry). So in lieu of this, I may choose FRIDAYS ... we'll see. But I do know yet because I need this 1st RESOLUTION now of the 13 ... maybe it's the one I need to concentrate on.

1. "I DO SOLEMNLY RESOLVE to embrace my current season of life and will maximize my time in it. I will resist the urge to hurry through or circumvent any portion of my journey but will live with a spirit of contentment."~Priscilla Shirer

This is what I needed for this week and my restart of 2014 again!

Once upon a time here, on Wednesdays, I had "WOMEN OF WORTH" or "WOMEN Of the Word"; then moved it to a "page" above, and now it's archived ... however, doing "The Resolution for Women" will return me into building a foundation for being a "Woman of Worth" and so I thought about doing this on Weds. as WOW once again, although it would have been for this "Resolution Project" and turning over a new leaf with these RESOLUTIONS (I'm still not sure which day I will be doing them on regularly).

I just did not want to be calling it "The Resolution for Women" ... some will apply to me, or you and some may not; it does not matter; but as the book image above says ..."this is what matters to me";

"This is who I am" is Part I.

The Resolution for this week is:

Boy, do I need this. Contentment. This is one special moment that my husband shared with me when I was home in MN after he had his truck rollover accident and surgery (that could have been fatal) but he is recuperating much better than I (lol) ... yet he did convey to me out of the blue, one morning, that "he is content". And I believe he truly is.

Memory Verse
1 Samuel 12:16

“This is going to be a good year for you, my friend.
Thirty-six is a great age.”~P.Shirer, from "Every Bite Counts",
1st chapter of Part I.

I wonder if this might be said for Sixty! (grrr)

"Carefully consider what the Bible says about content- ment:
“True godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.”
(1 Timothy 6: 6 NLT)

“If we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content (satisfied).” (1 Timothy 6: 8 AMP)

“Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, ‘I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.’” (Hebrews 13: 5 NASB)" ~Priscilla Shirer

Self- reflective Questions from Priscilla's 1st Chapter:

What have you been hurrying through?
• What have you been hurrying to get to?
• What are some of the good parts of your experience that you’ve missed in your attempt to rush through the more difficult ones?
 • What can you do differently today to “scrape the plate”— to gather up all the good things around you and begin enjoying the journey of your life?

There are actually 4 chapters in the "Surprisingly Satisfied" section (each one has 3-4 chapters for each resolution). And there are 4 in this 1st section: "Every Bite Counts"; "The Secret"; "Overflowing Blessing"; "The Balancing Point". I may take longer than 13-14 weeks, depending on the "resolution" and how the chapters apply or strike me. Priscilla even started this year with podcasts from this book. I'll be linking to each one(as I did with this first one) More of this on Fri. (I did not realize that I had shared so much today when I wrote Fri.-but I answer some of those reflections).

How I wish that I could do as Priscilla shared (but due to our house fire, no longer possible). My school memories were part of the kindle above the kitchen blaze of 2012 when our house in MN was considered totaled loss to this fire! Somehow, this leaves me far from content and amazed that someone else, who also experienced this great loss, is content. I'm a bit perplexed by this. update after Fri. post and rereading this one: My husband lost just as much as I, if not more, since as I explained "God sealed a walk-in closet of many of my personal belongings from the fire and much of the fire/water damage" except like I mentioned my years of school collections in the attic.
My husband lost so many collections of books, teaching materials, videos, art work, etc. ... years and years of collecting and preserving so that each room in our house had a different collection of educational and human resources ... not including his own personal interests like aviation and music:Big Band era and jazz. Yet still he can say, "he's content." When he barely escaped being asleep and sleeping through this fire, not hearing the alarms or the dogs barking, had someone very special (our in-house hero) detained his departure for the day by a few seconds and returned inside to see the fire and get my husband awake and out. I guess, this might make me content with what I have and that I'm alive. I know I am glad that he is and survived even though our house did not and many treasures; life is indeed the most precious.

Have you seen "Courageous" the movie? (it's my understanding that this goes with this and is how I came across this book after viewing this movie because there is also a "resolution" book for "courageous" men).

So for me: on April
(which was actually March 23rd when I wrote this),

(at least post each one each week)
as I read along

Let me know if you'd like me to share more or if you have this book
and would like to do it with me?
(in the comments)

If I am so led, I may respond or do one or more of the questions as well (but not today in this already lengthy blog post) in my blog posts or in the comments as I sometimes am known to do; like you do or can if you'd like to with any or all of the questions or choose one that strikes you

You will recognize the blog posts
related to this series by
this image of the book cover

I'm really ready to regain
"begin enjoying the journey of your my life"
(from the last question)

Although this would have made a wonderful, daily weekly series, I was not ready to commit to doing this daily and taking up every day of my blog once again with this, so we will see how this goes ... Today is a significant day for me, the anniversary of my parents (although they are not here to celebrate it here), I'm sure heaven is rejoicing with them. So this is why I chose today to start over 2014! Just seems right! I'm also watching the heavens for that "Cardinal Grand Cross" that should be aligned by today. I don't know much about it but I think it's very appropriate for such a day as this!

RESURRECTION SONday, Holy Week and "Easter Monday" have come and gone, but have left a lasting imprint on me (and others, at SRT-for one example) which hopefully will continue to impact the way we continue on our life's journey. But on this day, I encountered 6 videos that I just had to share ... about

... and since part of my blog title is MIRACLES it behooves me ...

to share more of these, "miracles" from the big ones to even the small ones that seem to go unnoticed, more than my MESSES and MAZES, which I believe I have done quite well in these 7 years of blogging (April is the month I began way back in 2008).

So without further ado, please view at least one of these from

#2 TEARING of the VEIL

(like the one Mexico City felt on Good Friday 2014)

Matthew 27:54

"More than 2,000 years ago, extraordinary things happened at Calvary that modern science and human reasoning consider impossible. A midday sky turned dark; the veil in the temple suddenly split; an earthquake shook the land; graves opened; Jesus’ graveclothes were found undisturbed; and saints rose to life and walked the streets of Jerusalem.

The Six Miracles of Calvary looks historically and reflectively at these remarkable events surrounding the death and resurrection of Christ. In interviews with leading scholars, the meaning and purpose of each occurrence is examined, highlighting its significance to Christ’s suffering and relevance to the challenges faced by those who follow Him. Filmed on location in Israel and featuring singer-songwriter Shannon Wexelberg, this absorbing program recaptures the Easter story and increases awe for God, His power, and His unfailing love. " Product Description

For 2014, I have been sharing ...

by Beth Moore

... like this ...

for today
Day 21
Focus: Matthew 7:24
Scripture Reading: Matthew 7:24-29

I may have to come back to this one again ... because today after a Glorious Resurrection SONday ... I just felt led to share this wonderful message I listened to during Lent that Beth Moore gave at the "Awaken Now" Conference with Betty and James Robison; this series of ...

not only is a great tribute to the Robisons
but a powerful message for us

Beth looks behind the curtain of James and Betty’s lives to reveal why God has blessed their ministry and home.

Isaiah 44:1-5
Isaiah 41:17
***see below***

Beth expresses her hunger and thirst for Christ to do a fresh work in her life and in the lives of believers.

As Beth examines the endurance necessary to prove the work that God desires to pour out on you, she asks,

“Are you thirsty?”

I think the last one (3) is my favorite!

Each video is about a half hour long but so worth your time. Here is Beth's opening prayer from Outpouring~1
"Lord, we are honored to be in this house; already so anointed by Your presence. You've been so gracious and kind to us. You love Your people. Lord, You have not forsaken this world. It is a lot of things but it is not god-forsaken. And we bless Your name! And we say to You, You are all to us. Jesus, You are all to us, and You are worthy of this worship in this house tonight. We need so desperately to hear from You. Lord, I know this, I know this, that when we are desperate to hear, we will hear -- we will hear.
So Father, I pray that this will translate through screens that everyone in this house will have a sense of Your spirit, everyone on the other side of that screen will have a sense of Your spirit. Pour on us -- pour on us! In the glorious, saving, beautiful, miraculous, delivering name of Jesus Christ. Amen."~Beth Moore

... do you long for the outpouring of the water of the Holy Spirit of the living God?

More from Moore
(which I consider to be such a powerful word)
"This is a downpour that God has promised on this page of scripture that is not contradictory to the one that we would find in John chapter four with the Samaritan woman because he told her in that particular passage of scripture an account that he would give a living water that would well up within to eternal life, the in-pouring of the Holy Spirit. But this passage of scripture is talking about something just a little bit different. Not the in-pouring, which we're hoping for every single person of every single nation and tongue as God seeks them out for salvation but there is something else being depicted in Isaiah 44 and that is not just an in-pouring but an outpouring --an outpouring. That we would have to quench the in-pouring of the Holy Spirit not too long for an outpouring."

waiting and watching for More on the
inpouring and outpouring
from the
downpour of God
