"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

Maybe you remember from 2014
when Darlene encouraged us
in a
31 Day Prayer Challenge
for our marriages

Well, every marriage can be blessed through "praying" and bringing our spouses to God daily ... so I need a blog space to gather what I may in one place ... and this will be it - in honor of my anniversary tomorrow, August 1 ... 39 years - Without a doubt, my marriage needs many prayers ... and Darlene's new website will be sharing one each day ... in fact her archive goes back to Feb. of this year on Marriage Prayers Today [order for blog address] of Today's Marriage Prayer {same thing} ... of course, just getting Darlene's newest book of 100 prayers would do that too, but then they would not be here for you to pray too ...  and it's always better with two or more ...

August 18th

Dear Heavenly Father,

Teach us the best way to get past our disagreements. When we argue and fight, remind us that we always have the power to choose our reaction.
We can wallow in sorrow, stew in our anger, and hold onto our pride, or we can love with humility, compassion, and grace.
Help us to make the right choice—to reject the urge to get even, to exercise patience, and to do our best to understand.
May we always remember that we’re both a work in progress, learning and growing in grace.
Give us a passion to live as Christ lived; the strength to walk in humility, and the wisdom to put down our pride with the weapon of truth.
In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca*, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. – Matthew 5:22-24

As you can tell ... these prayers are fabulous but too long to keep them all here so I guess I will try and rotate the prayer featured above and list as many as I can with a link to her original prayer on her site. {sorry, my plan was foiled and also these are not in any order-Darlene's, the month or my most needed -lol}

After looking through this list, you can see that the prayers cover a wide variety of marital topics. In fact, Darlene has a list of Categories along the right hand side of her site ... ranging from "A"(Attitude) to "W" (Wisdom) {someday there may be a "Z" for zeal}

I'd like to thank Darlene for composing and compiling these wonderful prayers! What a magnificent ministry and mission to marriages! Thank you. And recommend this book strongly for you and as a gift for a wedding or anniversary.

{oh, and if you're wondering why I did this page or post to collect these ... it's mainly because I have a hard time on the marriage prayer site navigating easily from one to the other, especially as I look for particular ones I've read ... going back page by page, does not help me that much, call it a difference in organizing; I like to see all the titles of the prayers in the archives of each month rather than navigate through each}

Most of my WALKs On WEDS. and blogs here
are about just that
walking with Him and being honest
in my reflections, my thoughts, my writings

Since this week's
is focusing on
Frees Me to Be Honest

I'm going to be as honest as I can on this walk
about why I think I'm in this valley that I've been in

It's July

July for me is/ or
has been filled with days
of extreme emotions
which as far as I can remember
that go back to
July of 1976

It was the happiest time of my life
or so I thought
I had just graduated from a wonderful college,
was director of a Child Enrichment Program there for the summer
and already had my first teaching contract for the fall.
My life was going as planned.
My dreams were coming together.
{except one, that I finally decided I needed to share of a secret kept}

And then,
fell apart
that's when it happened and has marked my life ever since

Without giving all the details
the people and circumstances

I was hospitalized that July
(some believed I had a "nervous breakdown" but that wasn't it)
in the hospital that I was born in but this time 20 yrs. later
I was in the locked ward of their psychiatric division
for 10 days sedated on medicine
I lost my self
my dreams broken
so I thought
I resisted letting anyone break me
I was determined to be well
to love and choose love
to live and be loved
to fight for me
my right to

I came to this hospital with my father gripping me by the arm
and I left that place, clinging to the arm of the man
I had fallen in love with, against my parent's wishes
the secret I had kept but decided to tell them
the day before I was locked up

Being locked up
takes away
much from who you are

Being locked up
is very humiliating and embarrassing
it stripes you of you

Being locked up
takes away any sense of control
peace of mind and security

Being locked up
robs you of all you worked so hard
to achieve and put together
of plans and dreams

Being locked up
releases all the demons
to manifest more rebellion

Being locked up
puts you on the defensive
where you begin not to trust
when you should be the most trusting
to get the help you really need

Being locked up
locks up "you" inside
your spirit breaks
your emotions spiral
your trust level diminishes
your high alert mode kicks in
your resistance and perseverance
take on new redeeming qualities

God's Word
speaks to you through its' pages
like never before
realized that summer
my tomorrow's
will be different than I had hoped
but without God battling with me and for me
I would not have made it in this world
I depended on Him

could walk me
through this

I was defeated but had not given up
God still had a plan for me

I still had a great
school year coming
in front of me in my most favorite role

that of a bilingual teacher
K-4th grade
was going to take
this golden opportunity
away from me

This became my
2 Timothy 1:7
to a
sound mind

Medicine for my soul
reminding me
along with
{like these}

staying close to my
Savior and Lord
as my Healer daily
through His Word and devotions
{like this (2) or this one}
declaring the
Truths of my identity of
Who I am
in Jesus Christ
{scroll down to the Christ BELL below with all the verses}
Singing songs like this to remind me
"Who am I?"
"...It's who I am, it's who You are..."
{shared this song earlier this month}

All the details of this experience of 1976 are not as important in the scheme of things except how God worked all things out for His glory (I still believe) and more yet to come because HE never lets a stone un-turned that needs to be rolled away or redeemed ... like me ... and on this day, I was preparing to marry that man that I love at "Wee Kirk O' the Heather" Chapel in Las Vegas in 2 days on August 1st ... so
{this is actually the place}

I'm living proof
almost 40 years
does  this
we keep
walking together
every day
not just Weds.

Other life events have happened in July, some filled my life with blessings and others ... not so much. But somehow, without even being consciously aware of the dates, my mind remembers where it was back in 1976 and I hit that low ebb. So the tide comes in ... and I wait it out, clinging now to the hand of my Lord and Savior, who has brought me through so much, and even my sin ... yet the beauty of His GRACE flows freely to reawaken just how important it is to grab hold of His hand and walk ... forward ... one step at a time, one day at a time and soon those days add up to many decades and so much GRACE, which is more than enough. Thanks be to Him! His power and His Grace ... walk me through the valleys to the mountaintops, and He never lets go.

SOS ~ GRACE ... DAY 40

DAY 40
Buy The Grace Immersion book at Amazon.com

Week 6

"Ripple Effects of Grace"

DAYS 36-42

  • Day 36: Grace Fuel
  • Day 37: Giving Grace
  • Day 38: Freedom Fighter
  • Day 39: Group Grace
  • Day 40: Grace Frees Me To Be Honest
  • Day 41: Grace To Disagree
  • Day 42: Saying Grace
{sorry but these devotions are no longer available online so I removed the links; see my note}

    from the book
    God's Word

    " So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,
    continue to live your lives in Him,..."
    Colossians 2:6

    Day 40

    "Grace Frees Me to Be Honest"

    1 Corinthians 15:9-11

    [I do realize without being able to read the devotion for this that it makes the questions more of a challenge and perhaps out of context without knowing what preceded them, but try if you can or just respond to the Bible reading with the title in mind, if that helps guide your thoughts or answers.]

    This devotion retells a fascinating story from David Seamand's book "Healing Grace" of a fighter in the resistance movement in WWII named Stypulkowski  (in"The Polish Underground")maybe you've heard it or are aware of it.
    "When you truly realize that everything you have is by God’s grace, you’ll find the courage for total honesty about your shortcomings and needs, and experience healing grace.
    But how does grace help me navigate the often prickly personalities and hot controversies I encounter everyday? That’s a great, often forgotten ripple effect of grace that we’ll look at tomorrow (Day 41)."

    Discussion Questions

    "Do you tend to be self-defensive or secretive about your shortcomings? Why or why not?

    Why is it important for your personal character growth for you to understand that all you have, you have by the grace of God?

    Thank God today for all you have by the grace of God — take a few minutes to specifically list in prayer some of the blessings for which
    you are grateful."

    since Monday

    [image credit]

    and in one of my searches I came upon the ministry of this beautiful image above

    another blog post from there that I wanted to link you to read on

    {more specifically "Fertilizing the Growth of a Miracle" blog post}

    a new devotional for me as well as a wonderful Bible study site with Carol McLeod
    {who has such a delightful "...Cup of Tea ..." blog and so much more}
    to fill your life or cup to overflow with JOY

    I love the 4 insights of

    What does it take to experience a MIRACLE?

    of 4 decisions made but not a formula or guarantee

    However, it was actually the beautiful PRINT that I really wanted to share with this quote from there {prints available but it said only until July 1st in the post}:

    "When you choose to Believe in the possibility of a Miracle
    your belief is the rain that waters the Hard
    dry ground of impossible situations" ~Carol McLeod, JustJoy

    just because it fits so well with this week

    is exactly how our

    Tying one thread to another to another

    "... binding three cords which cannot be broken ..."
    Ecclesiastes 4:12

    is how

    in the online community

    of believers

    should work too

    "Watching Miracles Unfold"

    with Sharon or Denise

    of prayers being answered and many still to be answered

    probably in process just like the one for Sharon and her precious mom

    “Lord Jesus, I love You so much. I thank You for the Bible. Thank You that the Bible does a Miracle in me. Thank You for the abundant life that is laid out for me in the Bible. Thank You that Your words bring joy to my life." ~YouVersion reading plan, Day 2, Just Joy M.

    Father, Thank You for MIRACLES unfolding and GRACE to wait and watch them come to be prayers answered and that You are at work always. Thank You for changing my FOCUS to lift me up from the valleys to see the mountain glory, looking beyond just me and opening my vision and heart to encompass ANYTHING that You may be doing in the lives of others and the total perspective You bring in whatever we surrender to You, trusting and hoping that "ALL things ... " in Jesus' name. I do love You so much!

    {skip the ad part since it's past, but enjoy this song and FOCUS}

    as always

    I do realize that I mentioned on Monday
    that this was in lieu of a
    "Walk On Weds."
    but as it looks that this published
    clearly I lied
    {I'm sorry}
    [this is not my usual way because most of the time, I am painfully honest]

    By now, most of you know me
    that I love my "Walks On Weds." that allow me
    time to reflect and share
    while I walk with God in the
    Gardens of GRACE

    So this is kinda like a 2nd Part of last week's "WALK"
    {in case you missed that I admitted in the comments that I did not go "sketching on the beach"}
    and also
    Sharon's "Watching a Miracle Unfold"

    ... because I feel like I have loose ends to tie up and make more connections

    ... because I did not answer Sharon's question at the end of her fabulous "miracle" happening

    ... because I stored away alot of photo images from my walk last week

    ... because I love watching God continue to unwrap and unravel throughout my time online
    and most importantly with

    ... because for me,

    this is how Miracles unravel and unfold

    when I wander from one place to another without knowing the final destination point
    {another place I'll be sharing on "Friday Focus"}

    but GOD does

    already has it laid out and planned
    just like Sharon's Domino effect of "it just happens" leading up to
    prayers answered on her, her family's and her mom's behalf

    ... because
    God cares for her

    and us

    enough to allow

    to still happen

    and I especially love that Sharon resolved to do more than

    Praise and Thank God

    then Sharon Shared 7 things more

    ... because Sharon wants to do more
    so do I, along with her ...

    ... I want this Divine Intervention to infuse my faith with more faith.

    I want it to make a difference in how I trust God.

    I want it to deepen my understanding of God's faithfulness.

    I want it to bring me peace as I face other turmoil in my life.

    I want to KNOW more than ever, that God is in control, that He still sits on His throne, that His ways are wise and good and timely.

    I want to believe…

    to deepen the
    for any

    the reason that I did not answer Sharon's question as I usually attempt to do,
    of whether I have witnessed a
    besides that GREAT One of the Bridge above

    ... because ...
    I'm sure that I have witnessed many
    BIG and SMALL
    yet I have never taken the time or the steps
    to notice and give God the glory
    as Sharon shared and we all should
    like the 10 Lepers
    I usually at least give "thanks" however
    I don't realize that
    indeed is/was a
    I overlook the simple
    every day
    in life and of life

    ... because ...
    I'm too caught up or stuck in the muck and mire of the
    other 'stuff', the mundane, conflicts, problems,
    disappointments, troubles, worldly woes

    {you get my drift}

    I ask

    Why do we miss the miracles in life?

    although I did not get this question specifically answered

    I encountered some really wonderful articles like

    How to Live Your Life as if Everything is a Miracle

    How to Receive a Miracle Part 1 & Part 2

    How God Works Behind the Scenes to Position You for Miracles

    How to Create Daily Miracles

    God Still Performs Miracles

    I guess just waking up each day
    {especially with old age creeping in

    with a fresh breath from God

    is all the

    I need

    I will start counting each one

    taking time to notice

    ... because I

    "Don't [Want to] Miss the Miracles In the Storm"

    [or not in the storm - my inserts]

    "Living in this broken world can easily harden our hearts to the joy and peace and miracles God gives us each day." New Spring Church
    I know I do not want my heart to harden!

    So what did I do last week instead of venturing out to the beach in temps that were reported "to feel like" 104 degrees, just to sketch ??? {insert "crazy" signal pointing to self}

     [This is as brief of a summary as I can compose]

    I started out by searching and watching videos on an International Faith Art community (here and there on their site and related sites, since I did not take time to sign up and register to have more access) and Art Journaling (totally new concept to me). Then I had a brainstorm idea of "Biblical Gardens" (which was really interesting and I was even able to download some coloring pages but no printer so I dabbled with sketching some) which led me to Seashells ... and I have plenty of them collected to assemble or draw and I can always get more ... yet these Garden images using Seashells ... really inspired me. Have you ever really noticed the beauty and design of a seashell?

    Nature's filled with

    [image credit]

    {and others interspersed above}

    I also listened to many of Joan Sebastian's songs and watched the videos of him with his horses ... even in MN.

    I discovered some reading plans from "GRIEF Bites" at You Version and their site, which I am doing on a personal, private level to "find treasures in hardships" and "grow through grief ..." because I'm really hoping to GROW, not just go through the valley whenever some occasion just happens and my heart remembers ...  ever so nearly, dearly and fondly ... of each MIRACLE in every person that crosses my life (REAL and VIRTUAL): I have been so blessed!

    that alone is a

    of the connections and encounters

    God designs and makes

    * not completely finished tying up all my loose ends but a little closer ... and I feel a bit better in the midst of lingering grief ... I'm working on it ...
