"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

Max On Monday
with the
"Glory Days
Scripture Memory Challenge

{I am a couple weeks ahead with this so there is a special site coming
for this at Faith Gateway}

...Memorize scripture that will help you fight every stronghold you face. Take the four-week Glory Days Scripture Memory Challenge.

I announced this last Monday's "Max On Mon." and shared all the videos and links
This Week's #1 Memory Verse from
Joshua 1:9

[the video is linked and shares Max with the verse]
{although I shared a link to The Message last week, I am not memorizing that version}
Now without looking
try to fill in the blanks below
"Have I not ______________you? Be ____________and ______________.  Do not be   _____________; do not be _____________________for the Lord your God will ____
with you wherever you __________." (NIV)

However, I really like the
NASB version
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (NASB)

I love to memorize
Scripture through Song
and this one
has such a jivey beat so it's catchy
you might wanna try this one
maybe actions help you more
this one is sign language
Have fun! Enjoy God's Word!
This is a good verse to have ready to face and fight!
Now try it again ...
"Have I not ______________you? Be ____________and ______________.
Do not be   _____________; do not be _____________________for the Lord your God will ____ with you wherever you __________."  Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

Don't forget to include the Bible reference: Joshua 1:9 so you know where it's from.

DAY 45

Week 7

"The Wonders of Grace"

DAYS 43-49

  • Day 43: Approaching God with Confidence
  • Day 44: The Panorama of God’s Grace
  • Day 45: Sustaining Grace
  • Day 46: Super-Lavish Grace!
  • Day 47: Grace in 3-D
  • Day 48: Calming Grace
  • Day 49: Simply Amazed By Grace

    from the book
    God's Word

"From the fullness of His grace we have all received
    one blessing after another "
    John 1:16

    Day 45

    "Sustaining Grace"

    2 Corinthians 12:7-10
    John 16:33

Today's devotion and reading contains my key verse for 2015 in GRACE (v.9).

The harrowing experience that is shared of Pastor Rene's father and mother-in-law is sadly more and more typical in the day in which we live, but their faith truly remarkably sustained them through the bullets and the disgruntled former homeowner resident's use of firearm. I pray that "Jesus help" me or us will sustain me in such a crisis if ever I am in harm's way.

"...Christ received grace to help Him in His time of need, so will you! And just as Christ ultimately overcame the world through His resurrection, you will too — by the promise and power of God’s grace."

    Discussion Questions

"When and how have you experienced the sustaining grace of God in time of trouble?"

Bring to God a tough time you are experiencing — and pray for someone you know going through a tough time too. Ask for God to richly bless with His sustaining grace!

    TLC Sermons:
    6. Grace-Inspired Change
    7. How Grace Changes Me
    8. The Panorama of Grace

Being in another country, living for ever so many years now, decades ... I rely on the sustaining grace of God ... every day ... whether in trouble or not, I so need Him and His Grace. Every time I travel, I have experienced this. Making the journey from MN to Mexico and back so many times, I have seen His Grace.
But the entire year of 2010 (that I don't remember much of) after the suicidal loss of my Mexican friend here ... I know that only by God's sustaining GRACE was I able to move on day after day, week after week ... with no one to counsel or guide me through the grief and deal with so much of what I was experiencing alone (not very likely that I could explain any of this in Spanish even if I am fluent, it is not my mother tongue and so often the words or expressions leave me unable ...) yet God still reached me and walked me through and along with me as I continued on here and as times get worse, I know without a doubt, HE is my Sustaining Grace! I still have not gotten through this but I do know that only through God's Grace am I able to keep on moving forward, yet at times I experience a form of paralysis, He nudges me and allows me to know He is with me --- His GRACE just gets more aMazing each time!

30 Day Summer Psalm AdventureI was so inspired when I encountered this Adventure in the Psalms; but alas, I was TOO LATE -because it was geared and set up for this Summer (as a S.P.A.)(ha), and I found it now at the end of it. I've always loved the Psalms and Praying the Psalms would make this adventure even better, so I headed out searching for You Version and other reading plans of the Psalms (usually combined with Proverbs). I should have considered this when my NIV Devotional Discover God's Heart had Psalms for June and perhaps I would have encountered the original SPA. I really like the idea of God's Word being like a SPA where we refresh and restore our spiritual side, much like a spa does the physical part.

All of this explaining is to introduce my plan for SEPTEMBER ... {using the same acrostic of S.P.A....yep... SEPTEMBER PSALM ADVENTURE {for those of us who missed the Summer and the Summer SPA with Gwen Smith, who I featured on my Friday Focus a week ago}. Of course, I found a good variety of reading plans and books ... if you're interested in them, just ask me.

This September is perfect to do this because it kinda covers 5 weeks (if we start Aug. 31st) which means 150 Psalms divided by 5 weeks is 30 a week ... hoping to focus this during the week days and if you need catch up days, you can use the weekends. This means 6 Psalms a day. Perhaps some of you may enjoy listening to an audio version instead of reading it or do both.

I thought about how the Psalms are divided into 5 Books (did you know that?) and do a Book each week ... however, Book I. is Ps. 1-41; Book II. Ps. 42-72; Book III Ps. 73-89; Book IV. Ps. 90-106 and Book V. Psalm 107-150 ... which is not very well balanced reading. Our PLAN will be close to this, but not any of the weeks will have more Psalms than the other, yet as you know, some Psalms are longer than others and of course, the longest one being Psalm 119 {needs a couple of days}. I also came across "The Common Prayer" (Psalter) and considered following theirs but I do not want to jump from one Psalm to another, I prefer to do them in sequence ... the attraction to the "Common Prayer" was their "topical" set-up and their focus being GOD ... you might like it and choose to go with that.  What I really like about "The Psalter" way is if you click on a Psalm it connects you to that Psalm as a Prayer. I will probably refer to this frequently. I will be linking my readings to Bible Gateway, The Message Version, which has an audio version too. You can read in whatever version you prefer or switch them around. My hope is to acquire a new hunger and thirst for God and His Word through the Psalms that to me are not only like songs {as many of them are} but also prayers from the heart.

Anyways, this is the image I plan to use and here is my week by week plan ... some days I may blog or maybe I will just do a weekly overview ... so bookmark this post and come along on a Walk with God {and me} through the Psalms ... are you in? Hope so! There are no restrictions and no worries, if we fall behind or miss any ... just pick up on that day, and if you want, catch up with what you missed on the weekend off {huh? whenever?}.

    {if not linked now, I will be linking to The Message by the week we read it}

    WEEK 1

    Day 1: Psalm 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
    Day 2: Psalm 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

    Day 5: Psalm 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30

    WEEK 2

    Day 6: Psalm 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36

    Day 10Psalm 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60

    WEEK 3

    WEEK 4

    WEEK 5

    Also, if you'd like, I have another suggestion, look at the group of Psalms for the day and choose 1 or 2 and focus on God in just that reading. No required readings or tests (lol) ... or book assignment, but I did find a really wonderful book on Psalms too! Oh and there are You Version Reading Plans also on the Psalms. I bookmarked a couple of them. More than anything, I hope you will Pray the Psalm of your choice, or come to that weekly adventure post and share with us your favorite or the one God spoke to you through the most for that week {most likely I will have an overview or prayer on Fri,}

My Walk On Weds. is in
preparation for a much longer walk that
I'll be doing in September and explaining on this Fri.
because, believe it or not, it's almost

I don't want to give away too much or too many clues. SO, This is just a peek!

Almost looks more springtime than fall ... don't you think?

well, spring may be your favorite season, but mine is the fall

not the 'original fall' but the autumn season - that's fall

I love the fresh breeze and the golden colors of

Autumn, the color of GRACE, in my walk

    in the
    Gardens of GRACE

So once we begin, you will see I've chosen a different image for the 30 days of

yes, a little bit more of the above image of a book

but it's not the book that I'm using or carrying with me as

I enter the garden walk today

nor even the longer one of 30 days in September

It's part of a book that I hope we each have and open daily

    It's a very special collection

much like the one I discover as I enter this gate

and find myself a lovely place to sit

    to read more about

    God's GRACE

    along this

I gaze upon those beautiful flowers

    the last fragrance of summer

    the remnants of spring

    open to

    more from

    Matt Redman's

    "Your Grace Finds Me"

    (You Version reading plan)

I can almost hear the melodies of these lingering songs

    ... "JESUS, Only Jesus" ...
Image result for Jesus only Jesus

"The uniqueness of Christ is such an important ingredient in our worship. It is what takes Jesus from being just someone to be admired and appreciated – and presents Him as the One who is to be forever worshiped, and bowed down before. He is the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. He is the Author of our salvation. He is the Cornerstone we build our lives upon. He is the Light of the World, and the Lamb who was slain. He is the Resurrection and the Life, the Firstborn from among the dead, who came to us from the Father, full of grace and truth. There is only one name by which we are saved – Jesus, only Jesus. "

"“Who has the power to raise the dead?
Who can save us from our sins? –

He is our hope, our righteousness –

    Jesus, only Jesus.”

So many of the questions and heart cries we have in this life can be answered with that very same phrase –

“Who can help me start again, bring about a fresh beginning, where I’ve messed up?”

    Jesus, only Jesus.

“Who can give my life some sense of purpose – a hope and a future?”

    Jesus, only Jesus."

“Who will be with me in the dark night of the soul? Who will defend me as I walk through the battlefields of this life?”

    Jesus, only Jesus.

He is the center of it all – before all things, and in all things. And He is holding our –fragile lives together. When all other hopes have faded away, and all other claims are found to be empty – there He stands - just as strong and loving as He ever was.

    Jesus, only Jesus.
    ~ from Day 7: Acts 4:12

    Then it's on to:

    "Wide as the Sky"
    [Philippians 2:10-11]
    Day 8

So I look up to the beautiful, crystal sky blue heavens in my

    Garden of GRACE

"Hands up, hearts open wide as the sky,
We lift You high, we lift You high.
Hands up, hearts open wide as we cry:
God we lift Your name high.”

"... On that day, in the light of the glory of Christ, every other claim to fame will be eternally silenced. As C.S. Lewis so powerfully describes it:

God will invade…When that happens, it is the end of the world. When the author walks on to the stage the play is over. God is going to invade, all right: but what is the good of saying you are on His side then, when you see the whole natural universe melting away like a dream and something else - something it never entered your head to conceive - comes crashing in; something so beautiful to some of us and so terrible to others that none of us will have any choice left? For this time it will be God without disguise; something so overwhelming that it will strike either irresistible love or irresistible horror into every creature. It will be too late then to choose your side. There is no use saying you choose to lie down when it has become impossible to stand up. That will not be the time for choosing; it will be the time when we discover which side we really have chosen, whether we realized it before or not. Now, today, this moment is our chance to choose the right side. God is holding back to give us that chance. It will not last forever. We must take it or leave it.” " ... Matt Redman's Devotion  "Your Grace Finds Me", You Version, Day 8

    the walk continues

    "Good Forever"

as I look at those blessings and battles talked about in this devotion of Day 9

    I hear

    "Let My People Go"
    (Day 10)

wondering if this is of the past or of the future?

    when I hear His whisper

    "Come and See"
    (Day 11)

    followed fully by the

    (Day 12)
    Numbers 6:24-26

    as I surprising discover that

we have reached the end of

    "Your Grace Finds Me"
    (Day 2)
    {love the painting being done in this one in the background}

so I quickly double back to hear it all over again

    the full GRACE package
    as I

    "Sing and Shout"
    (Day 1)

I realize that my walk had gone in a full circle

    bringing me back to His

    (Day 3)

where I realize how much truth is in these words

    "I Need You Now"
    (Day 4)

    every minute of every hour

I can never get enough of His Mercy and GRACE

    "This Beating Heart"
    (Day 5)
    (Day 6)

    I am living for;

One name my heart and my soul adore.

Be the first and the last,

Be the song that I sing,

    Jesus be my everything.”

And although I cannot choose my favorite of all these places

    it definitely is

    Finds Me

how I need Him so much

    * the brief devotions at You Version almost capture me and my short attention span, as much as these songs ... their impact along with the Scripture readings are a beautiful way to start or end your day in God's Word ... as I hope you'll join me for a journey ... a walk in God's Word this September ... every weekday with a rest day or catch-up break every weekend ... an adventure I'd love to do with YOU in mind ... prayers as I prepare and hope to see you here in Sept. for some S.P.A. time {hopefully that and this walk caught your attention and peaked your interest some}
