"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

Imagine yourself praying to God, the Father
at the same place, where His Son Jesus

What would go through your thoughts?
How would you react or show your respect?

Which of the above sites
would touch you the most in your heart
as you reflect on all Jesus has done?

"O God Almighty, who suffered death upon the cross, particularly for my sins, be with me.
Holy Cross of Jesus, have pity on me.
Holy Cross of Jesus, be my protector.
Holy Cross of Jesus, take away all bitter pains.
Holy Cross of Jesus, take away all evil.
Holy Cross of Jesus, let me walk in the way of salvation.

Preserve me from any temporal accidents, take away any danger of sudden death. I always adore the Holy Cross of Jesus Christ: Jesus of Nazareth crucified, have pity on me; make the spirit of evil leave me for all times.

This PLACE seemed the appropriate last place in the "Footsteps of Jesus" Holy Land tour online, yet His steps on this earth might have ended His earthly stay in human flesh, but He is seated forever at the Right hand of the Father and now it is up to us to continue walking {or not} in His Footsteps!

I really do hope that you enjoyed these 31 Days ... because it took much time and careful, prayerful thought to figure out which places and what connections to the Holy Land I would be able to include, having never traveled there ... I wanted the impression of Walking in His Footsteps to encourage us in our daily walk in His Word, knowing Him better and closer with a glimpse of an experience of what it actually looks like in the land where He walked and why it is Holy Land ... and how much we can virtually experience these places online from the comfort and the safety of our home. Not to discourage you from ever making a REAL Tour, but just to give us a taste of how wonderful it is or would be!

"Walking as Jesus Walked"
{even shorter video}

This Week 5
we look at

"Obeying as Jesus Obeyed"

Week 5: Obeying as Jesus Obeyed from Sonlife.com on Vimeo.

What does it mean that Jesus learned obedience?
(Hebrews 5:8)

How do we raise the value of obedience in our own Christian life?

How do we teach our disciples to obey?

" "

Indeed this was one of the PLACES I really wanted to share and walk with Jesus to see. Truly a place one would not miss in the Holy Land.

"Walking as Jesus Walked"

Week 3
Jesus and the Holy Spirit

Matthew 4:1-11

What might describe your wilderness experience?

How Jesus did what He did?
How Jesus walked as He did?

What ingredients go into play for Jesus' beginning
of His ministry?

How Jesus lived out the values?
(covered in the upcoming videos)

[shorter video of about 8 minutes]

Week 3: Jesus and the Holy Spirit from Sonlife.com on Vimeo.

"... Being God’s Voice
As you pray, ask God to make you His voice. Ask Him to release His authority in your life to turn others back to God and righteousness. The world is living in a wilderness of increasing fear, anxiety, loneliness, and pain. People are hiding their fear through constant activity and in so many unfulfilling ways in their anxious attempt to make this life pleasant. They need God.
We are the voice of the Lord on the earth as we positively declare His will through our prayers and our lives. God is looking for consecrated vessels like John the Baptist. He is waiting for something to be done, waiting for someone to pray His will. We become God’s voice on the earth for breakthrough by praying His will as we listen and obey. Heaven responds to our prayers. God listens and acts on our behalf.
The atmosphere changes; we change; our lives change.
You are God's voice in this generation, pointing the way to His second coming. As you pray, you are releasing His power in the world. As you speak, you are declaring His will on this earth. As you travail, your tears are releasing His power to break the darkness over the land. As you live, you are modeling a dedicated life.
He wants to use you in greater and greater dimensions. He wants you to rise up higher as a consecrated vessel for His glory. But it’s up to you. The King of the Universe is calling you higher. Will you say “yes” to a holy lifestyle, to a deeper prayer life, to a level of consecration that only He can make real in your life?
Let’s be His voice and prepare others for His Second Coming. Let's prepare the way of the Lord.
He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: 'A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in,every mountain and hill made low.The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God’s salvation... I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.' And with many other words John exhorted the people and proclaimed the good news to them” (Luke 3:3-6, 16-18). " from Crosswalk: "A Voice in the Wilderness"

Since I gave up a while back with my 31 Day Journey "In His Footsteps, I have decided to continue sharing the study that I have posted videos on my SOS (SONdays) to finish this Jesus Journey well, since they teach us and show us where Jesus walked ... so beautifully. Today's Week 2:How Real is Your Jesus?

..."The model of Jesus’ life shows us what being fully human looks like, breaking us out of our sinful ways. We now need to closely examine the model of Jesus’ life. Looking closely at the character and priorities of Jesus will provide the key to knowing how to walk as He walked."...

We want to pause long enough to evaluate what Jesus may have been thinking when He behaved in certain ways. As we examine why Jesus acted the way He did, we will be looking for a pattern—a pattern we can follow in order to faithfully think and act as He did. "
HOW did Jesus do what He did as Son of God and man?

How can we walk as Jesus walked?

Breathe in these descriptive words that Wayne opens this post with about ...
Mount Tabor

"Unmistakable. Majestic. Distinctive. Graceful. Descriptions all appropriate for an isolated hill wedged in the northeast corner of the Jezreel Valley."

Wayne points out that more than likely
it was not Mt. Tabor
that was the place of the Transfiguration
as I shared yesterday

FOOTSTEP ~ 22 ~ Mount of the Transfiguration of Jesus

For the next two posts we are looking at 3 different passages at this place
for  events with Jesus

Mark 9:2
Matthew 17:1
Luke 9:28

Mount Hermon
Mt. Tabor

"...Mount Tabor is a steep round hill on the north-east side of Yizreel valley. It played an important role in the biblical history, and tradition links it to the Transfiguration of Jesus. The hill is strategically located on the main north-south ancient road, and was an important fortress during the First and Second Temple, Greek, Roman and Crusaders times." Bible Walks

Jeremiah 46:18

"the mount of Transfiguration"

There are quite a few references to Mount Tabor
in the Old Testament
Joshua 19:22; Judges 4:6; Judges 4:12; Judges 4:14; Judges 8:18; 1 Samuel 10:3;

1 Chronicles 6:77; Psalms 89:12; Jeremiah 46:18; Josiah 5:1

What might it have been like to be Peter, James or John
with Jesus on the climb of this mountain
and see Him transfigured before their eyes?

a glorious vision that you can say nothing about

"Let us pray (in silence) [that we may grow into the likeness of Christ] --- pause --- Selah

God of life and glory,
Your Son was revealed in splendor
before He suffered death upon the cross;
grant that we, beholding His majesty,
may be strengthened to follow Him
and be changed into His likeness from glory to glory;

for He lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God now and for ever. Amen. "

Lake of Gennesaret

The traditional location for the Mount of Beatitudes is on the north western shore of the Sea of Galilee, between Capernaum and Gennesaret (Ginosar). The actual location of the Sermon on the Mount is not certain, but the present site (also known as Mount Eremos) has been commemorated for more than 1600 years.

Matthew 4:23-5:10

Matthew 5-7
Luke 6

Mount of Beatitudes from west

A Galilee hillside (Matthew 5 and Luke 6:20)
where Jesus delivers

"The Sermon on the Mount is considered by many to be Jesus' most well-known message. It was given by him right after he choose his innermost twelve disciples. The words he spoke begin to define more fully, for the first time, the New Covenant (agreement) God offers to all mankind. Unlike the Old Covenant, which offered only physical blessings, the New Covenant makes possible eternal spiritual blessings. Jesus likely choose to give his message from a hill so that as many people as possible could hear what he had to say.
Although the Bible is silent in regard to the exact location of the Sermon on the Mount, it has been historically believed to have been given on Mt. Eremos. This location has been commemorated as the place of the message for more than 1,500 years. It is positioned on Galilee's northwest shore between the cities of Gennesaret and Capernaum. The Mount itself overlooks the plain of Gennesaret, an area known for its fertility. The New Testament records several times that Jesus was in this area, including when he healed the multitudes and faced condemnation from the Pharisees for ritual impurity.
In the 4th century A.D. a Byzantine church structure was placed near the mount. Today, the only things that remain from this building are pieces of a cistern and monastery. During the third Crusade in 1187 A.D., the great military leader Saladin and his Moslem forces completely defeated the crusaders at the sermon on the mount location. This victory compelled him to take the city of Jerusalem in October of the same year. In 1938 A.D. the Roman Catholic Church built a chapel near the famed area. "BibleStudy

Another PLACE etched in my mind that I would not want to miss, even though I read the exact location is not certain. Just to be in the area of Jesus' famous teaching of such beautiful truths set in the "Beatitudes".
The perfect picturesque site for a "Walk On Weds." along these hills where Jesus taught and many listened/heard His sermons in person. Love to imagine being here ...

Turkey & Greece

Today we have changed our destination to walk
where Paul walked
instead of

"Follow in the Footsteps of St. Paul ...Known as Saul, St. Paul was born in Tarsus, in what is modern-day Turkey. After his conversion on the road to Damascus, he became one of the most notable Christian missionaries, first converting Jews, then Gentiles on three journeys throughout Turkey and Greece between about AD 47 and 57. The apostle’s letters to the Ephesians, Corinthians, and others are a prominent source of information about the early Christian church and a significant influence on Christian thinking to this day.
