"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

21 PRAYERS ... {when you need a prayer and just can't pray}

and MORE later

This is a time for
PRAYER
every moment is a time for prayer

but there's an
"Urgency of the Hour"
{I couldn't agree more}

seems like others are leaning toward praying also
like Emily Freeman with "A Prayer of the Heart ..."

WE NEED PRAYER
ALWAYS

our world needs prayer
our nation needs prayer
our families need prayer
our churches need prayer
our leaders in places of authority and
our communities need prayer

So I have been looking around for
PRAYERS
because quite honestly
only my spirit is praying lately
for I lack the wisdom and the words to cry out
except
"Have mercy on us, O God"
"Thank You, Lord"
and
other short phrases

I lack then HE supplies
I search then HE answers
I give praise and thanks
then HE responds in kind
so

I could not wait any longer to declare in
PRAYER
with so much going on
(and with all my posts planned ahead, I had to squeeze this in)
but prayer shouldn't be like that at all
especially when prayer is my priority because
communication with God IS first and foremost
yet often that's what we do "squeeze" God in
or just when we really need God
when our prayers really need to be constant
DAILY
moment by moment, *"unceasingly", throughout each day
(or night, in my case, quite often)
How is that even possible?
{well, it is and should be}
*1 Thessalonians 5:17

PRAYERS
I found quite a few reading plans at You Version on PRAYER and am sharing just the prayers from this one: "21 Days of Prayers" provided by Pastor Eric Gerber of Freedom Life Church and I'm following two others right now (one is short and the other one is 32 days that I shared over at my MISSION blog) :

"Unleash The Miraculous Every Day: Living The Spirit Contemporary Life"

"Honoring Women And Children In A World At War"

If you find yourself stumbling or mumbling around with loss of praise, adoration, words or thanks ... Please don't just read through these now but take the time to pray each one, maybe bookmark or come back, and pray these prayers so they will spark some further prayers coming forth ... kinda like prayer starters for your day or perhaps when you need a particular one (each one has a theme underlined or given each day):

Day 1, Power
"Thank You God for the power of Your spirit that is working in me, my family and in every area of my life."...

"God, I thank You for the power of Your Holy Spirit. Today I’m asking that You would help me be more aware of Your power rather than my weaknesses. You are a big and awesome God and I receive Your power today. Forgive me for making You too small in my life. Thank You that You are demonstrating Your power in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen! "  Ephesians 6:10; Philippians 4:13; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 4:20

Day 2, Creativity

"Thank You for the creativity You have given me to see the possibilities in my life."...

"God thank You for helping me to see beyond what others see. Give me big ideas that will help me to see things differently. Increase my creativity so I can do so much more for You and help lead others to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen! "  Genesis 1:1-3Exodus 35:31-32Psalms 139:14Matthew 25:16Luke 1:37

"God thank You for creating me in Your image. Thank You that You have given me every resource I need to do all that You created me to do here on earth. Today, I thank You specifically for ___________ (list what your personal need is). I’m trusting in You for the resources that I need. Thank You for meeting all my needs. I love You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!

Day 4
"Thank You for the relationships that You have provided."...

"God, I thank You so much for the relationships You have provided for me. Thank You for helping me make the right connections today in my job, with my family, with my community, and in my church. I thank You for the connections that I will continue to make throughout the year. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Day 5
"Thank You for the peace that you are providing me today."...

"God, thank You for taking my anxious thoughts and filling me with peace. I pray today for help to remember that the challenges and struggles I face are opportunities to be filled with peace. I ask that You would help me to be more aware of Your peace in my family, my church, and in my life. I thank You for the peace that You have given to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen! "

"Thank You for the strength You are providing me today."...

"God, thank You today for increasing my strength. I receive Your strength. Help me to remember in my moments of feeling weak that you increase the strength within me. Keep me from looking to other things to fill me with what only You can satisfy. In Jesus’ name, Amen! "

Day 7
"Thank You for the authority that You have given me through Your name."

God, I thank You today for the authority You have given me through Your son, Jesus. I ask that You would show me the areas in my life that I have allowed to overtake me. Help me today to walk in the authority that You have given me. In Jesus’ name, Amen! "

Day 8
"Thank You for helping me apply discipline to my life today."...

"God, I confess to You that I have not always been disciplined. I thank You for the grace and mercy that You give to me, even when I fall short. Help me today to make better decisions. Help me to say “no” in my weak moments. Stir up in me a passion for Your Word. Help me to grow deeper in my relationship with You. Give me the desire to pursue You more than the things that only satisfy me temporarily. I love You and I ask this In Jesus’ name, Amen! "

Day 9
"Thank You for giving me vision to see beyond my circumstances."...
{for me personally, I say "Thank You for vision, as in sight, also and all of the other senses You have given me; hearing, touch, taste, smell ... " although this prayer is not about our senses, I could not help myself from immediately pausing to be grateful for all the abilities I have had the privilege to have and give thanks while I still do have them. Aging makes you keenly aware of these blessings.}

"God, thank You for giving me “big vision” today to see beyond my current circumstances. Help me today to see things as You see them. Stir up within me “big vision” for every area of my life. Keep me from limiting You based on what I see. Give me vision beyond myself. In Jesus’ name, Amen! "

Day 10
"Thank You for the faith to believe in You for the things that I can’t yet see."

"God, I thank You today for giving me the faith to believe You- to believe in the things that I cannot see. I confess that I have doubted and even given up in certain areas of my life. Today, I ask that You stir up a mountain-moving faith in my heart. Let faith rise up with in me to walk in that confident assurance that You are moving in big ways on my behalf. In Jesus’ name, Amen! "

Day 11
"Thank You for giving me hope."

"God, thank You that You give me hope when everything seems hopeless. Help me today to remember that I am firm and secure in the hope that comes from You. Enable me to see today through the eyes of hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen! "

Day 12
"Thank You for the joy that gives me strength."

"God, thank You for joy today! I pray that You would fill me fresh with the joy of the Lord. Help me today to remember that my joy is not based on what happens around me but rather on what You are doing in my heart and in my life. I pray that I would overflow with joy today. I pray joy would be contagious to those around me. Let the joy from You show on my face. In Jesus’ name, Amen!"

Day 13
"Thank You for the ability to do all things
that You have assigned me to do in

Your name."

"God, thank You for giving me the ability to do all things through You. Today, I look to You and Your strength. Thank You for helping me to be the _____ (you fill in the blank) that You created me to be. Remind me, in those times of frustration when I feel like I’ve missed the mark that You have given me the ability to do everything that I need to do. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Day 14
"Thank You for giving me wisdom beyond my years to live and lead well."

"God, You said that if I lack wisdom that I should ask You, because You generously give to all without finding fault. So I’m asking, God, that You would give me wisdom today. I believe that Your Word is true. I thank You now for Your wisdom. Help me today to walk in wisdom in all areas of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!"

Day 15
"Thank You for giving me favor in all things at all times."

"God, thank You for surrounding me with a shield of Your favor. Help me to walk in that confidence today in everything that I do. Thank You that you accept me. Thank You that You love me and surround me with Your favor. In Jesus’ name, Amen!"

Day 16
"Thank You for Your love that accepts me."

"God, I thank You for Your unconditional love. I ask You today that You help me to receive that love. Fill me with the confidence of knowing that I am loved and accepted by You. Give me a fresh revelation of the power of Your cross. Help me to see myself as you see me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!"

Day 17
"Thank You for good health today that I am strong and full of strength."

"God, today I thank You that you are helping me make healthy choices. I confess that I have made some poor choices regarding my body. Thank You for Your grace and mercy today that covers me and heals me. Help me to remember today that my body is not my own and that Your Holy Spirit is living in me. By the power of Your Spirit, make me strong, heal me, and protect me in Jesus’ name, Amen!"

Day 18
"Thank You for compassion that gives me a heart for others."

"God, I thank You today for the compassion that You have shown to me. I ask You that you help me to have a heart of compassion for those that You have surround me with in my life. Show me those people in my life today that you want me to reach. Give me the courage to take that step of bold obedience to do what You are leading me to do. In Jesus’ name, Amen! "

Day 19
"Thank You for Your forgiveness."

"God, I thank You today that You don't hold my past against me. I ask You today that You would help me to walk in that freedom of knowing that my sins are forgiven. I also ask that You would help me to forgive those who have hurt me. I’m trusting You today to help me forgive others. Thank you for purifying me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!"

Day 20
"Thank You for Your grace is so amazing."

"God, thank You for Your grace. Thank You for leading me back to You. Thank You that because of Your grace, I can live for You and do all the things that You have created me to do. Help me to receive that grace and help me to offer grace to others as well. In Jesus’ name, Amen!"

FOREVER and ALWAYS
God's aMazing Grace

Day 21
"Thank You for life!"

"God, thank You for life. By faith I thank You for an abundant life. Help me to be an example to this world by living the abundant life that You promised to me. I thank You for life in Jesus’ name Amen! "

PRAYERS
for
CHRISTIAN UNITY
{I'm thinking that these may be more necessary in the wake of current events and more}

"Lord Jesus, You have always loved us from the beginning, and You have shown the depth of Your love in dying for us on the cross and thereby sharing our sufferings and wounds. At this moment, we lay all the obstacles that separate us from Your love at the foot of Your cross. Roll back the stones which imprison us. Awaken us to Your resurrection morning. There may we meet the brothers and sisters from whom we are separated. Amen."

"God of love, look upon our willingness to serve You despite our spiritual poverty and limited abilities. Fulfill the deepest longings of our hearts with Your presence. Fill our broken hearts with Your healing love so that we may love as You have loved us. Grant us the gift of unity so that we may serve You with joy and share Your love with all. This we ask in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen."

"Lord Jesus, who prayed that we might all be one, we pray to You for the unity of Christians according to Your will, according to Your means. May Your Spirit enable us to experience the suffering caused by division, to see our sin and to hope beyond all hope. Amen."

"Lord Jesus, You said that everyone will know that we are Your disciples if there is love among us. Strengthened by Your grace, may we work tirelessly for the visible unity of Your Church, so that the Good News that we are called to proclaim will be seen in all our words and deeds. Amen"

"God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may You give to all Christians, and especially to those entrusted with leadership in Your Church, the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that with the eyes of our hearts we may see the hope to which You have called us: one body and one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above and through all and in all. Amen."

"Heavenly Father, grant us humility to hear Your voice, to receive Your call, and to share Your dream for the unity of the Church. Help us to be awake to the pain of disunity. Where division has left us with hearts of stone, may the fire of Your Holy Spirit inflame our hearts and inspire us with the vision of being one in Christ, as He is one with You, so that the world may believe that You have sent Him. This we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen."

"Lord Jesus, You asked Your apostles to stay awake with You and to pray with You. May we offer the world protected times and spaces in which to find refreshment and peace, so that praying together with other Christians we may come to know You more deeply. Amen"

"Lord Jesus, you have made our hearts burn within us, and have sent us back upon the road towards our brothers and sisters, with the Gospel message on our lips. Help us to see that hope and obedience to Your commands always lead to the greater unity of Your people. Amen."

  1. These are alot of PRAYERS and I am sharing another series "Honoring Women and Children in a World at War" (another You Version reading plan from a ministry site: "Prayers for Crown Jewels") - I mistakenly forgot to change the "blog" this morning so the 3rd one I've shared was published here in error. It's best to start with the 1st one on my MISSION blog which also has Day 2 "Access to Scripture" ...

Now back to Monday's JCBC#28 question, or even just the title for today from a devotional on Oct. 9th - certainly meant for me. See ya' over there.
