"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion — to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." ~ from ISAIAH 61 Bible verse for this Blog

I'm so GRATEFUL 2 God
for
...HE IS MORE then AWESOME...
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 89:6-7

"For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?
He is more awesome than all who surround Him."

PRAYER:

O LORD God Creator of all that I marvel at in heaven and on earth, there is no one like You. You even rock the scientists and archaeologists according to Rebecca. I am in awe when I take the time to pause and gaze in the wonder of it all. It is far too much to fathom or comprehend the creativity of Your hands, the same hands that formed me and those I love. No genius comes close or compares, nor strikes me with the magnitude of all You breathed or molded into existence. You are wonderful and greatly to be praised. But first, I must thank You for You indeed are awesome!!! "Too marvelous for words ... too wonderful for comprehension ...  Majesty ..."
{much better to just sing this to You}

AWESOME!

Jehovah Jireh

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 22:14

" So Abraham called that place "The Lord Will Provide". And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided."NIV

PRAYER for today is the following jubilant SONG:

Jehovah Jireh

I thank You for the many ways You provide, not just financially but in all ways, I have come to rely on You.

Today, as I wait on my permit to be here, I will trust in Your Provision and Your will. May I find favor in You and may the decision and suggestion made, that I am following, be in Your hands and according to Your will. I am lost without You leading me and guiding me, so I pray that I am doing what You want. You have provided for me and You know what is best as regards all of this. Make a way for me, open or close doors as You have done and do, so that my trust in You is without any doubt or unbelief, because I desire to do what You believe is best. You know every detail of this, LORD, so I trust that You will provide.
I give You thanks as You provide Your way for me. Thank You for the finances provided for me, this permit and whatever else may come as this is decided ... in Jesus' name, I pray

I'm so GRATEFUL 2 God as

ABBA

SCRIPTURERomans 8:15

"For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, "Abba, Father."

PRAYER:

Oh Abba, how this honors me and delights me to come to You and call You "Abba". After reading the words that Rebecca shares from Your precious Father heart ... I am overwhelmed with so much gratitude that I am Yours and You accept me with such aMazing love and grace! I have such a tender place in my heart when I speak to You as Abba. My heart floods overflowingly with the tenderness and gentleness this gives me.
I thank You as my Father daily but to come to You as Abba has such a sweet, tender embrace in just the mention of Your Name as "Abba" like the Name of Jesus ... endearing, beloved, yet powerful and ever so glorious! Thank You Abba for the awesome privilege to call You this and come to You as Your child. Thank You that I no longer come to You, my Father, Abba, in fear, but with a reverent fear of love and a better understanding of You. Thank You for Your Son Jesus, who shows us how to relate to You as Abba and gives us this "sonship" honor as Yours!

May we only get closer and more loving each day as we cry out to Abba and He hears us.

Focus: Forgiveness
"Jeremiah 31:34"

I'm so GRATEFUL to God
for
FORGIVENESS

1st for HIS and then for the forgiveness of others

SCRIPTUREJeremiah 31:34

"For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

PRAYER:

Father, Thank You for forgiving me from any wickedness and sin when I confess them to You, You are faithful and just to forgive me but this promise says so much more. So I am grateful that You also will remember them no more. Lord, how often I forget and wrestle with this more for myself than for forgiving others when I know that the past is gone, and You paid greatly for all my wrong actions and attitudes.

Thank You for this grateful response in today's devotion. I not only say "amen" but also ask You to help me forgive as I have been forgiven, keeping me in a ready mode to forgive others, forgive myself and move forward in Your precious forgiveness. I am ever so thankful to You for Your forgiveness and that You sent Your Son to pay for my debt, a debt I could never pay. Thank You, Lord! Thank You for continual forgiveness and the humility to always come to You, releasing forgiveness from You and Your Throne to me and those I've offended and those who have done anything against me that need forgiveness, for You have already covered all of it in Jesus' precious name ... forgiveness for a repentant heart bowed before You!

IN HIS PRESENCE~2 & GRATEFUL 2/4 GOD

For more about this, go back to here and follow any of these

I'm GRATEFUL to God
as
BRANCH

Day 2
for now follow this link to 2013
Focus: Branch

"A GRATEFUL RESPONSE
Lord, You are a towering branch that protects me from the sweltering heat of oppression. Hovering over me, You shelter me with the shade of Your Spirit each day. I have felt the refreshing breath of Your presence, and I am grateful for the sweetness of Your comfort. O Lord, how beautiful is Your name!"~Rebecca B. Jordan

[note: whenever the Day falls on Thurs. I will be combining this with the Name or characteristic given in this devotion for Focus]

... and this is not an easy one for today for our first one ...
maybe reading Rebecca's full, short devotion will inspire you

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 4:2

"... In that day the Branch of the Lord
will be beautiful and glorious. ..."

PRAYER:

Lord, How delightful it is to picture You as my Branch. I love the image that Rebecca painted in her grateful response "hovering", "towering" and "refreshing"! Thank You for the protection You give us as the Branch. Yet I see You as the Branch as the limb to which I cling to or climb to get up higher just like Zaccheus.

I'm thankful that You are with me as I climb, cling or better yet cross over closer to You. As the Branch, You bend just enough to make it easier somehow to stretch myself to the next step up. Thank You! I am grateful for how You branch my way to Our Father, making it possible to swing a little higher, a little closer.

Without You, I could not cross over into eternity. And for this, I am eternally grateful. As the Branch, O Lord, You are "beautiful and glorious", but for me, as the Branch, You have bent graciously to lift me above my troubles often and swing me up above the cares of this world ... You are a full Branch and in You, I seek Refuge, Strength and Covering, new growth each year and for this year of 2014 much fruit I pray ... mature me, O Lord and make me more like You. Thank You for being our Branch! Thank You for extending Your limbs for us!

GRATEFUL 2/4 GOD ...

For more about this, go back to here and follow any of these

I'm GRATEFUL
2(to) GOD 4(for)
as
my
CORNERSTONE
Ephesians 2:20
1 Peter 2:6
Isaiah 28:16
more verses

Not really knowing what this would mean for me to give thanks to God, for Jesus, as My Cornerstone ... I set out to read and study this, because I chose this Name based on this was the last week of "The Great House of God" study so it only seemed like I should know more about this Cornerstone.  I needed to really understand what it means not just with God, as my Foundation, my Rock, but I need to know how to recognize Jesus as my Cornerstone, what it means, how to pray, praise, and thank Him for being my Cornerstone ... here's some of what
I discovered... as I FOCUS(ed)

So what exactly is the Cornerstone?

"The cornerstone provides the lines, the pattern for all the rest of the building. The cornerstone must be  straight and true, and everything in the entire building lines up in reference to the cornerstone. If the cornerstone is defective in anyway, if the line is off by a tiny angle, the whole building will be wrong."

"In ancient building practices, the cornerstone was the principal stone placed at the corner of the edifice. The cornerstone was usually one of the largest, the most solid, and the most carefully constructed of any in the edifice. Jesus describes Himself as the Cornerstone that His church would be built upon, a unified body of believers, both Jew and Gentile."

Read more: http://www.gotquestions.org/Jesus-Christ-cornerstone.html#ixzz2d1ykxVBL "Got Questions" gave me a quick understanding ... but the BEST because of its simplicity was the one for Kids ... really well done "Bible Time for Kids" (CCCM) I guess once a teacher of kids that is what appeals most to me! I really did delight in this 5 day lesson plan. It even gives me a "Prayer Time" focus...

PRAYER:

Lord, Thank You for the Foundation that You have provided for me in Jesus Christ. Thank You that I am not building my house in sinking sand but upon the Rock! I ask that if anyone does not know how to build upon the Rock or seek Jesus as their Cornerstone that they may find a solid source and begin construction with Jesus as their Cornerstone. May our lives be COMPLETE and built in the unity of Jesus, who is Our Cornerstone!

NOTE: I will not be formally doing Grateful 2/4 God as a post during Sept. and Oct. but will return for the whole month of November. However, I will be continuously GIVING THANKS during this time and on occasion may pop that into my posts. Yes, as I've said (I think) I have posts daily planned since my 30 day Faith Dare, each month has a FOCUS here. I hope you will come along on my journey through ACTS (Sept), ??? surprise??? (Oct. 31 Days)
Giving Thanks (Nov.) and Caroling (Dec.) ...

Another NOTEWORTHY event: I have now 1976 posts (some are in draft and some are yet to come) (it will be much more after I set up the last 2 months) but I thought this was a KEY POINT in BLOGGING to mention this, since I graduated in that year, married in that year, and started my first professional teaching job that fall (which was my best year of teaching;my first and my last, years later were my favorite years of teaching) ... anyways, as I near 2000 and go beyond to close out 2013, maybe I'm suppose to lay this old blog aside???

Naw.... we'll have to see what the Boss says! I think I heard Him this past week speak to me about my new ONE WORD for 2014 or maybe I confused it with a suggestion for a book title... yeah, that'll be the day ... well, actually that is kinda what my blog is ... a book, a continual book in progress, hmmmm

GRATEFUL 2/4 GOD ...

For more about this, go back to here and follow any of these

I'm
GRATEFUL
2/4
GOD

as

MY HELPER

pausing to sing

"You are my all in all"
as I reflect on Him as my Helper
Psalm 54:4
Hebrews 13:6

"Lord Jehovah is my helper and my protector, for my heart is confident in Him and my flesh flourishes, and with glory
I shall praise Him."
Psalm 28:7
Aramaic Bible in Plain English

"The Lord is my helper and my protector:
in Him hath my heart confided, and I have been helped.
And my flesh hath flourished again, and with my will
I will give praise to Him."
Douay-Rheims Bible

THE LORD
My Help
*Jehovah Ezer*

Psalm 27:9

C H Spurgeon comments:
"IN times of distress it is somewhat a difficulty to have a choice of helpers, because while we are making our selection, the danger may have overtaken us. While the fox was considering which way to run, the hounds had seized him; while the sick man was selecting the physician, and judging of the medicine, his disease carried him off. It is well to be shut up to one sole help, if that help is all we need; it is for our good, in such a case, to have no alternative, but to have, as the old proverb hath it, Hobson’s choice — that or none. The believer is exactly in that condition; he must trust in his God, or remain without hope. He dares not look to others as he once did, for he has discovered their incompetence; he cannot rely upon himself as once he was foolish enough to do, for he has learned by bitter experience the folly of self-confidence. He is compelled to look to the Lord alone. Blessed is that wind which drives the ship into the harbour, blessed is that wave which washes the mariner upon the rock of safety, and blessed is that distress which forces a man to rest only in his God. Such was the condition of the psalmist (David) when he wrote the text, his spirit looked to God alone; in his past experience the goodness of the Lord shone forth as the pole star of his life’s voyage, and, therefore, as to the future, he fixed his eye steadily on that one sure guiding light, and trusted in the God of his salvation." (A Mighty Plea)

Spurgeon adds:
"When you pray, have a plea ready, a plea that is available under all circumstances and conditions. Have a plea of your own, not one borrowed from others and perhaps only half suited to your specific needs. Have a plea that wells up from your inner consciousness, your personal plea, heavy in your own soul. Have a plea that allows you to come before the throne of grace with confidence and boldness (He 4:16-note). Have a simple plea, one you can understand. When you are in doubt, you are in a fog and you need a clear chart. When you plead with God during times of trouble, you want your plea to be clear, or else you will be so confused that you will not be able to prevail.

Pray like this, “You have been my help; do not leave me nor forsake me” (Ps 27:9). This is a plain, personal, suitable, simple argument, one that is not fetched from a distance but grown at home in personal experience. What would we have done without the Lord’s help in time of need? God has greatly displayed His power and His mercy on our behalf. Many of you whose heads are covered with the silver hair of age will say with tearful emphasis, “You have been my help.” Those of you in middle life, battling with its care and trials, can confess, “The Lord has been my helper.” Young people, even in their short conflict, have received such aid that they gladly proclaim, “You have been my help.” Look back on the trouble that God has brought you through. Can you remember the times when your feet had almost gone and your steps had nearly slipped? Then say, with thankful emotion and confidence, “You have been my help.”

Spurgeon's sermon on Psalm 27:9 - A Mighty Plea "

You could take a whole month just to take in all the wealth of information on this Name alone. Yet I believe this is why God has sent us the Holy Spirit as our constant HELPER

This week, I am seeking His Holy Spirit as my Help in every thing but I'm pleading HIS HELP for a very dear sister in Christ that so needs HELP of a Divine nature. I am so tired of the enemy's attacks against her for way too long in so many areas from her health to her marriage. I serve the enemy notice this day to take his hands off of this precious sister in the authority and name of Jesus Christ. Maybe you too feel under attack, let us GO to Our Father with Jesus as our mediator and plead Our Helper JEHOVAH EZER OUR HELP IN WARFARE
(also a part of the above link further down the study starting with Psalm 35:2).

Will you join with me and pray for this sister? a Mighty Plea on her behalf ... stand and intercede. I will not name her just ask that you pray for her health, her marriage, all of her situation for God's Divine Help. She is such a prayer warrior for others, she needs to know that she is never alone. Nor are YOU or I.
